Adam Sandler fans “screaming with joy” as Netflix comedy sequel confirms release date in trailer

Happy Gilmore 2 has officially confirmed its release date in a new teaser trailer – and fans are “screaming with joy“.

In July, exactly on the 25th, the eagerly awaited follow-up to the iconic 1996 comedy will be available on Netflix. Once again, Adam Sandler takes on the role of the main character, the golfer, as he makes a comeback to the game following a lengthy break.

The trailer reveals that Happy is now a five-time Tour Championship winner, joining the ranks of sporting legends such as Arnold Palmer and Tiger Woods.

He claims that it’s been a long time since he last used a golf club, yet he’s about to return to the game. He confessed, “I must admit, I feel somewhat overwhelmed. Nowadays, everyone seems to be hitting the ball far. I’m unsure where to begin.

Happy Gilmore 2 boasts a star-studded cast, with returning cast members including Ben Stiller as Hal L, Christopher McDonald as Happy’s golfing nemesis Shooter McGavin, and Julie Bowen as his love interest Virginia Venit.

New cast members include Sandler’s daughters Sunny and Sadie, as well as Travis Kelce, Bad Bunny, John Daly, Blake Clark and Paige Spiranac. Pro golf stars Bryson DeChambeau, Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas and Will Zalatoris will also make an appearance.

People expressing excitement about the upcoming release of the sequel in the YouTube trailer comments, with one individual saying: “My inner self is bursting with delight.

“Can’t wait for Happy Gilmore 2, let’s go,” wrote another, while a third commented: “Can’t freaking wait! Excited to see all the different cameos.”

The original film introduces Happy as a bad-tempered failed hockey player who discovers he has a talent for golf and enters a tournament to help save his grandmother’s house.

Happy Gilmore 2 arrives on Netflix on July 25.
