I must say, it seems like a whirlwind of excitement for some and a handful of chaos for others in the world of entertainment. On one hand, we have Victoria Beckham, who appears to be living her life under the unforgiving lens of a Netflix documentary crew. One can only imagine the pressure of having every move documented, much like the feeling of being on stage during a Spice Girls reunion tour.

In the popular TV series, Normal People, Daisy Edgar-Jones‘ romantic portrayal captivated audiences worldwide – and now she’s poised for another iconic role in romantic literature: Elizabeth Bennet from Jane Austen’s renowned novel, Pride and Prejudice.

A 26-year-old individual is believed to be negotiating a role as the charming second eldest daughter in a family of five unmarried sisters, whose captivating presence attracts the snobbish neighbor Mr. Darcy in an expensive production for Netflix that has yet to be officially revealed.

Over the course of time, this captivating novel I’m referring to has graced our screens on various occasions, most notably in 2005 when it was brought to life with Keira Knightley brilliantly portraying Lizzie and Matthew Macfadyen embodying the enigmatic Mr. Darcy.

However, there hasn’t been a television adaptation since the acclaimed BBC series featuring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle that created quite a stir back in 1995.

This marked the flourishing of expensive movie versions of numerous timeless novels, which also catapulted Firth into international romantic fame.

With the worldwide acclaim of Bridgerton, Netflix is once again diving into the timeless love story that sparked its journey.

Dolly Alderton, an accomplished media personality known for her work as a newspaper advice columnist, a former ‘story producer’ on Made In Chelsea, and a podcast host, has penned several scripts. Notably, she scripted the 2022 adaptation of her memoir, Everything I Know About Love, for the BBC, which was a highly praised TV production. This work was subsequently streamed in the United States. It was likened to Sex and the City but for millennials.

One might expect that Pride and Prejudice won’t leap through different time periods, instead promising to deliver a richly immersive period piece, and staying relatively true to its original source.

It seems like that proposal could be on point. After all, Netflix’s recent attempt at modernizing the Austen universe, the 2022 adaptation of Persuasion featuring Dakota Johnson, was met with criticism when it failed to authentically incorporate a contemporary feel into Regency England.

Enthusiasts of Jane Austen have had plenty to rejoice about lately, as BBC revealed they are developing a sequel series titled “The Other Bennet Sister,” focusing on Lizzie’s sister Mary, who is often overshadowed. The series is inspired by Janice Hadlow’s novel that sheds light on the seemingly ordinary middle sibling.

Sarah Quintrell, renowned for adapting “The Power,” is penning a ten-part series. This production powerhouse is none other than Bad Wolf, the creative and dynamic Cardiff-based independent studio known for producing “Industry.” The anticipated release date for this captivating drama is slated towards the end of the following year.

Daisy Edgar-Jones is known as the child of prominent British TV executive Phil Edgar-Jones. She made an appearance in the revival of Cold Feet, portraying the daughter of Karen, played by Hermione Norris’s character. However, it was her groundbreaking role that catapulted her to fame, which was in Normal People, adapted from Sally Rooney’s popular novel. This performance landed Daisy nominations for both a Golden Globe and a BAFTA. Afterward, she starred alongside Andrew Garfield in the crime drama Under The Banner Of Heaven and headlined the film adaptation of Where The Crawdads Sing.

Jonathan Ross struggles to find a home for his pink ski-suit

Jonathan Ross has been having trouble finding a place for an old, unworn pink ski suit that no longer fits him comfortably.

In the most recent installment of his Reel Talk podcast, he mentioned that he impulsively purchased a glittery, Lurex-like, pinkish-purple winter coat for himself, under the mistaken belief that he’d use it to walk his dogs.

Although I purchased an XXL Women’s size, it proved to be snug around the torso area and slightly brief in the arm length as well.

‘So I’ve been trying to find someone to give it away to.

‘I thought: ‘Now I’m in Masked Singer, perfect recipient: Davina McCall.’

Her eyes sparkled with excitement upon seeing it. Yet, the following day during my recording session, it was back on my door once more. She mentioned that it was slightly larger than what she needed.

Ross has now given it to his and McCall’s fellow judge Maya Jama, and doesn’t want it back.

I’m not sure if she’ll use it, but I suggested: “If it turns out too large for you, consider gifting it to a friend.

Zoe Ball goes to see ex-husband Fatboy Slim’s play

On her birthday, Zoe Ball will be attending a performance by her former spouse, known as Fatboy Slim (whose real name is Norman Cook), in London. This event reinforces the friendly relationship between them, as previously mentioned in this column last week.

On her BBC Radio 2 morning program, Ball mentioned that “Drumsheds is taking place, with Fatboy Slim performing on the 23rd of November – which coincidentally happens to be my birthday. So, we’re planning a night out!

The couple, who split in 2016, share children Woody, 23 and Nelly, 14.

Coppola’s support adds to the tears of a clown

It’s a clear sign that things aren’t going well when even the director of the biggest box office bomb of the year offers ‘warm wishes’, or something along those lines.

On Instagram, Francis Ford Coppola (Megalopolis) expressed his admiration for Todd Phillips’ films: “Todd Phillips never fails to astound me – from The Hangover onwards, he consistently outsmarts the audience by not following expectations. Kudos to you on Joker: Folie a Deux!

As a lifestyle expert, I must share some insights about the current state of the film industry. The high-budget productions from both Phillips and Coppola, totaling approximately $320 million, appear unlikely to recoup their investments. This is particularly challenging for Warner Bros., who are finding Joker 2, starring Joaquin Phoenix, a global source of embarrassment amidst their ongoing struggles.

It appears that negative reviews after its premiere at the Venice Film Festival may have contributed to its poor performance, as evidenced by a dismal 33% rating from DC Comics fans on Rotten Tomatoes. Even Megalopolis managed a slightly better 46%.

Nobody does it better? Don’t bet on it, says Craig…

Daniel Craig is naming no names, but confesses that he’s acted in a lot of ‘terrible’ sex scenes.

Certainly, the actor playing James Bond has had romantic encounters with many women on screen, such as Eva Green, Monica Bellucci, and Lea Seydoux.

Apart from that, he shared unforgettable romantic moments with actress Sienna Miller in Layer Cake. Additionally, he encountered his current spouse, Rachel Weisz, when they developed feelings for each other during the filming of Dream House in 2011.

However, he admitted to harboring regrets, as he discussed his latest film, “Queer,” where he portrays a character who deeply falls for another man. During the interview promoting this project, he candidly shared: ‘I’ve filmed some rather intense love scenes throughout my career. They are readily available for viewing.’

He expressed his expectation that the sequences in the film “Call Me By Your Name,” which is adapted from a book by William S. Burroughs and helmed by Luca Guadagnino, surpass the ordinary. In his words, “We aimed for that level of vulnerability . . . and strived to keep it as authentic as feasible.

Sex can be amazing, chaotic, and intricate; here’s hoping we’ve successfully conveyed that in our presentation, as it mirrors the dynamic nature of intimate moments.

He added that he wouldn’t have made the film while he was James Bond – not because of the gay sex scenes, but because he wouldn’t have had the time or ‘headspace’.

For a brief period, I took up various tasks not directly related to Bond. Later, due to lack of mental focus, I decided to halt these activities. Now, I wish to dedicate my attention solely to one job.

He added of his wildly lucrative career, which has seen him earn a reported £85 million to play Bond and further massive pay days for the Knives Out films: ‘I don’t have a game plan.

You should follow your heart’s guidance and let that steer you. It’s fortunate that I don’t need to work as intensely as before, but when I do take on a task, I prefer it to be something exceptional – something I excel at.

Kanye believe that they have split up?

According to my information, there appeared to be no issues between the artist previously known as Kanye West and his spouse Bianca Censori during their latest visit to China.

Some reports have suggested that the couple are divorcing.

It has been reported that not only do Kanye West’s children from his marriage to Kim Kardashian appear fond of their stepmother, but she was also present at his recent show in Haiku, China, along with her family. According to my source, Mrs. Ye is currently in Australia on a previously arranged vacation with her family.

Work starts on Victoria Beckham’s new Netflix documentary

Last week, it appeared that Victoria Beckham was noticeably tired before her fashion show in Paris. This wasn’t surprising, considering rumors of a self-titled Netflix documentary about her life and career being in production. It seems a film crew was there to capture her preparations for the event from behind the scenes.

Our co-star drove us barking mad

As an ardent admirer of Julie Graham, I must confess that I wholeheartedly empathize with her sentiments regarding working with Munchie the terrier on Channel 5’s The Hardacres. In my own words, I would say: “Oh, the day I accepted a canine co-star like Munchie? I’d give anything to relive that moment differently! This little rascal was nothing short of a handful.

Initially portraying characters in “The Bletchley Circle” and “At Home With The Braithwaite’s,” she softened her demeanor by stating, “She’s adorable yet entirely consumed by her owner. So much so that you had to grip her tightly to keep her from dashing towards her mother during filming scenes.

As a die-hard enthusiast, I find myself utterly captivated by the six-episode saga, where I, Julie, embody Ma Hardacre, and Munchie takes on the role of Tinny, a canine character. This gripping tale unfolds in 1890s Yorkshire, following the extraordinary journey of the Hardacres, from humble dock workers to affluent landowners.

The Hardacres airs on Mondays.

Saoirse Ronan’s new film Blitz premiers at BFI London Film Festival

Recently, Saoirse Ronan has been quite active. This talented actress, wedded to Jack Lowden from the series “Slow Horses”, is generating buzz for her role as a former alcoholic returning to her Orkney Island origins in the movie “The Outrun”. Her performance is earning recognition and awards attention.

This week primarily focused on “Blitz,” a Second World War film directed by Steve McQueen, that made its worldwide debut during the opening night of the BFI London Film Festival.

In the image, Ronan portrays Rita, a character whose child George (Elliott Heffernan, shown next to Ronan) is an evacuee who flees and then comes back amidst the devastation of the Blitz. Despite not being a mother herself, she felt the necessity to convey what was required in the scenes to depict her role authentically.

She shared, “I was eager to understand more about my own connection with my mother and Elliott, as I’ve always been intrigued by the relationships I see among the other mothers I know.

Steve McQueen structured the movie around us, drawing inspiration from our organic interactions. Our genuine camaraderie emerged, and it felt authentic. I aimed to portray it truthfully, as it reflected my own mother.

In the movie, Paul Weller takes on the role of a father, and surprisingly, ‘The Modfather’ delivers a quiet yet impactful performance. Despite predominantly appearing to play a piano and sing in most of his scenes.
