Actor Mickey Rourke faces eviction from LA home over $60k in unpaid rent

Actor Mickey Rourke faces eviction from his Los Angeles home after failing to pay rent.

According to court records filed Monday in Los Angeles, actor Mickey Rourke – born Philip Andre Rourke, Jr. – was given three days to pay his rent on December 18th, but he didn’t.

At the time of the notice, he owed $59,100 in unpaid rent.

A representative for Rourke did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Court documents show Rourke initially agreed to rent the three-bedroom, two-and-a-half-bathroom house for $5,200 per month, but the price was later increased to $7,000.

The home, a charming Spanish bungalow originally built in 1926, is currently listed on Zillow as being nicely updated. It’s also rumored that famous detective novelist Raymond Chandler lived there for two years during the 1940s.

Eric Gold, the property owner, is asking to be reimbursed for his legal costs and any damages incurred. His lawyer could not be reached for a statement.

I recently revisited some of Mickey Rourke’s early work, and it’s fascinating to see where he started. Before becoming the powerhouse we know today, he actually began with small parts in films like ‘Heaven’s Gate’ back in 1980 and ‘Body Heat’ the following year. But it was his performance in ‘Diner’ in 1982 that really caught people’s attention and hinted at the talent he’d eventually become so famous for.

Following successful roles in films like “The Pope of Greenwich Village,” “9 1/2 Weeks,” and “Rumble Fish,” Mickey Rourke’s career began to decline. His personal life and behavior often received more attention than his work as an actor.

Looking back, it’s hard to admit how much I messed up. By 2008, I’d lost it all – my home, my wife, everything people thought of me, and my career. It all stemmed from deep-seated shame from my childhood, but I masked it with anger and a tough exterior, like armor. It was a defense mechanism, honestly. I think I came across as frightening, but really, I was the one who was terrified. I just felt… broken, like a short circuit, and I had no idea how to even begin to fix myself.

In 2005 he reemerged with the neo-noir action thriller “Sin City.”

Three years after that, Robert De Niro received a Golden Globe and an Academy Award nomination for his performance as Randy “The Ram” Robinson, a struggling, older wrestler, in the film “The Wrestler,” directed by Darren Aronofsky.

Rourke’s return to the big screen has not been an entirely smooth ride.

He left “Celebrity Big Brother UK” in April after show producers cautioned him about using offensive language and behaving inappropriately, a show spokesperson said.

His remarks allegedly included comments about JoJo Siwa’s sexuality

I was shocked to hear that after leaving the show, he’s actually suing them! Apparently, his manager said they’re taking legal action because the show didn’t pay him and really humiliated him by airing things that put him in a bad light. People magazine reported all the details – it’s a messy situation, honestly.
