Activewear mogul Lorna Jane Clarkson has made another significant property investment in Byron Bay.

As a lifestyle enthusiast spearheading a renowned activewear brand like Lorna Jane, I am thrilled to share that we’ve made a significant investment of approximately $10.98 million in acquiring the exquisite SOMA wellness retreat. This strategic move marks an exciting new chapter for us, further emphasizing our commitment to holistic well-being.

The expansive 21-acre property, famously recognized, serves as the stunning setting for the television series starring Nicole Kidman titled “Nine Perfect Strangers.

Such was the case for me recently, as I gleefully snapped up a property that left me speechless – a testament to its irresistible charm.

It seems incredibly inviting, making me think this is an ideal spot for unwinding, revitalizing, and rekindling connections. The wellness trend continues to flourish, and as soon as we learned that SOMA was up for sale, we simply couldn’t resist the opportunity.

Lorna mentioned that she intends to keep the extensive property as it is, carrying on with its existing activities. At the same time, she’s considering the opportunity for hosting corporate retreats, conferences, and podcast recording sessions.

The report indicated that the Ewingsdale hamlet in Byron Bay had its record price broken, with a sale at $10.98 million.

In 2016, Peter Ostick, a tech entrepreneur, and Gary Garrow, a specialist in meditation, purchased a sprawling nine-hectare property for just $1.8 million. Three years later, they completed the development of this site, which is now known as Soma, in 2019.

Located in the countryside surrounding Ewingsdale, approximately 5 kilometers from the heart of Byron Bay, this center boasts a design by architect Rieky Sunur, characterized by a blend of concrete and wooden aesthetics.

Highlights include floor-to-ceiling windows which offer stunning views of the surrounding hills.

The second floor also features stylish clad walls covered in vertical wooden slats.

Within the primary residence, visitors can find a well-equipped kitchen, resembling those found in professional settings, complete with high-quality appliances and ample countertops for convenience.

Meanwhile, the dining room features stunning views of the lush countryside.

This peaceful sanctuary offers additional amenities such as a geodesic dome for yoga, an infrared sauna, and an ice bath as well.

There is also a freshwater heated infinity pool and idyllic Zen gardens.  

As a devoted follower, I’ve discovered that the Soma website offers a captivating three-night full retreat package. This delightful package, featuring a luxurious king-sized bed, comes at a price of $3390 per individual.

Meanwhile, in 2021, Soma’s owners were asking $6,820 for a single day rental.

Lovers of Nine Perfect Strangers may recall Soma as the setting for the ominous wellness resort that played a central role in the captivating crime narrative.

In this show, Nicole plays the character of Masha Dmitrichenko, a woman from Russia who moved abroad and established Tranquillum House.

After investing $14 million last year, I’ve just added another stunning property to my portfolio – the very same Byron Bay estate where Margot Robbie quietly tied the knot with Tom Ackerley back in 2016.

Yet, the purchase price of $14 million for the idyllic retreat seems modest compared to the activewear queen and her husband, Bill Clarkson, who sold their two Los Angeles homes for a staggering total of $22.6 million mere weeks before the acquisition.

In the latest development, Lorna has made her third investment in the Byron Bay region. Notably, she already owns a beach house there, making her the queen of activewear and a significant landowner in the area.
