Active Matter, a ‘Mind-Bending’ Tactical Shooter Inspired by SCP Lore, Coming in 2025
As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for the unconventional and the mind-bending, the revelation of Active Matter has sent a thrill coursing through my veins. Having delved deep into the labyrinthine world of SCP lore, I can’t help but feel an eerie sense of familiarity with this fractured multiverse.
Gaijin Entertainment and the Matter Team recently unveiled Active Matter, an intellectually challenging tactical first-person shooter featuring intense gameplay in a fragmented multiverse.
In this game, you find yourself trapped in a recurring time cycle where every time you perish, you’re sent back to a specific spot. Before venturing into “quantum-unstable regions” filled with ‘active matter’, a mysterious substance capable of warping both space and time, you must select your gear. The game’s unpredictable environment is inspired by the lore of SCP, a fictional organization that handles the supernatural.
In addition to competing against rivals from different time periods, you’ll encounter strange physical anomalies that distort gravity, and mysterious entities will be obstacles in your path. Gathering energized resources, amassing treasure, and safely returning to your shelter amidst a chaotic reality is what you’ll have to do each day.
In secure zones, you’ll be able to duplicate items from alternate realities, while your weaponry selection draws inspiration from actual military hardware. The game titled “Active Matter” is set for release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC in the year 2025. A Closed Beta test is planned for later this year.
