“Action-packed” new thriller gets exciting cast update for spin-off of massive Netflix hit

Netflix has announced some new casting news for the Extraction TV show spin-off.

After the two films starring Chris Hemsworth were successful, the series is now branching out by offering a television show format, titled similarly, as part of its expansion.

It’s confirmed that two more stars will be joining Omar Sy, who is already set to star, in the upcoming show.

What to Read Next

Initially, let’s mention Natalie Dormer, who rose to fame portraying Margaery Tyrell in the hit series Game of Thrones. However, her acting career extends beyond that, as she is also recognized for her roles in The Hunger Games and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels.

Then there’s Boyd Holbrook, star of Logan, Narcos and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.

In the upcoming series, “Extraction,” the story revolves around a character portrayed by Sy, who is a mercenary with a task: rescuing a group of hostages in Libya.

Despite the challenges ahead, he finds himself caught between hostile groups and cold-blooded assassins.

Facing difficult circumstances, he is surrounded by warring parties and merciless murderers.

As a thrilled fan, I’m excited to share that it appears Dormer is set to portray a private military contractor named Clayton Wisper in an upcoming project! Although the details about Holbrook’s role are still under wraps, the Netflix announcement hints at an intriguing dynamic between our characters – they could be partners, rivals, or something in-between. I can hardly wait to see how their connection unfolds!

According to Angela Russo-Otstot from AGBO, the production company co-founded by Joe and Anthony Russo, they are happy to be working with Netflix once more. This collaboration aims to extend the world of ‘Extraction’ into a different format.

As an avid fan, I’ve been driven by a passion to delve deeper into the narrative of this expansive universe, shedding light on complex and imperfect mercenary characters that resonate with broader human themes.

Glen Mazzara’s skill lies in crafting complex and layered narratives within the genre TV shows. We’re delighted that the talented Omar Sy will lead our high-octane, multifaceted storyline.

Meanwhile, the third film was announced back in 2023, but it still seems like it’s quite a way off.

Currently, there’s no announced release date for The Extraction series, but you can watch both movies from this series on Netflix right now.

Here it is! The latest print edition from Digital Spy is now available. You can purchase the Oasis – Live in ’25 issue at newsstands or online for only £8.99.
