ACM Awards gave Ella Langley almost everything—but not quite

Okay, so I’m a bit confused about the ACM Awards this year. Ella Langley absolutely crushed it, winning every award she was up for – seven total! But then… she wasn’t even nominated for Entertainer of the Year? Seriously? Based on everything that happened at the show, she totally was an entertainer of the year, you know? It makes me wonder if there are some unwritten rules going on behind the scenes.

Cody Johnson received the award, and while he’s a talented artist, Lainey Wilson truly deserved it, having had a much stronger year. It’s baffling how she wasn’t even nominated for the top prize.

The awards show was generally a success. Shania Twain hosted this year’s event, held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Previously, Reba McEntire had hosted for two years at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas.

Ella Langley didn’t get nominated for the one Academy of Country Music award she deserved

While Frisco is fine, many people involved probably favored Las Vegas. It’s becoming a popular place for performers to establish long-term shows, and some of those involved in this event might consider Vegas for future opportunities.

It’s clear that country music duos aren’t as strong as they used to be. There aren’t many new pairs creating music that seems award-worthy. It makes you wonder if the golden age of country duos is over.
