Acclaimed ’90s-set crime drama “almost impossible to look away from” gets UK streaming home

A gripping real-life crime drama starring Lily Gladstone has found a new streaming home in the UK.

Starting on July 25th, the upcoming 2024 limited series named “Under The Bridge” can be streamed for free on ITVX in the United Kingdom. ITVX will exclusively air this critically acclaimed thriller as its free-to-air home in the region.

The entire series consisting of eight episodes will simultaneously debut on the streaming platform, with the added bonus that each episode will also be aired weekly on ITV1 and STV.

In the show, we have Gladstone playing the role of Officer Cam Bentland, while Riley Keough takes on the character of Rebecca Godfrey, an author whose book serves as the basis for the series. Titled Under The Bridge, this captivating drama follows the tragic murder of Reena Virk, a teenager.

16-year-old character Reena, played by Vritika Gupta on the show, tragically lost her life due to being brutally murdered in Saanich, British Columbia back in 1997. This unfortunate event drew extensive coverage from Canadian media outlets.

The show additionally explores the story of the teenage girls suspected of killing Reena, revealing shocking facts about the actual events that transpired.

In my gaming world, “Under The Bridge” brings Archie Panjabi to life as Reena’s mom, Suman Virk. Chloe Guidry takes on the role of Josephine Bell, while Javon “Wanna” Walton becomes Warren Glowatski. Izzy G graces the screen as Kelly Ellard, and Aiyana Goodfellow brings Dusty Pace to life.

The primary roles are expertly handled by Gladstone, Keough, and Panjabi, but the performances of the young actresses portraying the accused girls have also garnered positive reviews from critics.

The Daily Beast remarked that the show has an unsettling, heart-rending quality that gives it a strong feeling of instability and brutality, making it difficult not to keep watching “Under the Bridge.

The limited series has been given the ‘Certified Fresh’ label on Rotten Tomatoes, based on a critical consensus of 86%, following analysis of 57 reviews.

Beginning on the 25th of July, “Under The Bridge” will become available for streaming on ITVX. Each new episode will be broadcast every week on both ITV1 and STV.
