Absurd Ventures Forms New Absurd Marin Studio Comprising Ex-Immortals of Aveum Devs

As a seasoned gamer with decades of gaming under my belt, I find the recent developments in the gaming industry to be nothing short of intriguing. The formation of Absurd Marin by the esteemed Dan Houser and the influx of talent from the once-struggling Ascendant Studios is a move that has stirred up quite a storm in the gaming community.

This year, Absurd Ventures – the studio founded by Rockstar Games’ co-founder Dan Houser – has established a fresh branch called Absurd Marin. Mostly made up of developers who previously worked at Ascendant Studios, the creators of Immortals of Aveum.

Last September, approximately 45% of Ascendant Studios’ entire workforce were let go. It’s likely that many of these former employees have been hired by Absurd Marin, a studio located in San Rafael, California, which is led by Game Director and founder of Ascendant Studios, Bret Robbins.

As reported by a representative from the innovative Absurd studio (via GI.biz), approximately 20 members from the primary team responsible for Immortals of Aveum currently comprise their workforce. The studio intends to expand its team even more as they advance in the development of their project.

Regarding the details of that project, it seems to be a type of game known as an open-world action title, set within a fictional world called ‘A Better Paradise’. Alongside this, there’s also a story-driven adventure being developed based on a yet-to-be-revealed new intellectual property. Both projects are still in the initial stages of development and will be complemented by various other media such as books, podcasts, and comics.
