Absolute Batman Looks Badly Beaten in Scott Snyder’s Terrifying Tease For Absolute Bane
Acclaimed writer Scott Snyder teases how much worse things are about to get for DC Comics’ .
On April 18, Snyder posted a picture showing a severely injured Bruce Wayne, brandishing his famous axe and gazing at a silhouette labeled “Bane V.2 REDACTED” in repetitive pattern. The image was accompanied by the caption, “Absolute Bane is approaching… Pre-orders for Absolute Batman #8, which sets the stage for his tale, start on Monday. Don’t miss it!
As a dedicated DC Comics fan, I can’t help but be thrilled by the introduction of the Absolute Universe, a realm that emerged following the tumultuous events of Dark Crisis. Initially, this alternate reality was a complete enigma to the Justice League, yet it has now become a significant part of our comic book universe.
In an astonishing turn of events, the classic villain managed to transform his consciousness into something entirely new, intertwining it with the very essence that composes the Absolute Universe. This remarkable feat granted him the power to mold and manipulate this reality according to his whims.
Ever since then, a multitude of darker, more intense versions of cherished DC Comics characters have come to light, such as Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, the Flash, and Martian Manhunter. Despite retaining their traditional character traits, these figures often defy or even shatter the conventions most closely linked with them, for instance, by forming strong bonds with characters who would typically be their sworn enemies.
In the world I’m immersed in, there are four remarkable characters who share a deep bond with Bruce Wayne – Waylon Jones, Harvey Dent, Oswald Cobblepot, and Edward Nygma, often recognized as… In this alternate universe, these four have been by Bruce’s side through his darkest trials and most desperate times. Each has played a pivotal role in supporting him on his journey as Batman, sometimes without even realizing it. Among the newfound resources that have emerged to aid Bruce is undoubtedly the intelligence provided by the Riddler, but here’s an intriguing twist – this intelligence doesn’t come from Nygma himself, but rather from a semi-sentient robot that he designed and built.
Absolute Batman #8 will be available on May 14 from DC Comics.
