Abbott Elementary has revealed an unexpected crossover with It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
Back in the start of this year, the mastermind behind Abbott Elementary, Quinta Brunson, hinted at a joint episode for the fourth season. Regarding the forthcoming partnership, she kept mum, only sharing with Variety: “Contracts have been signed. Rest assured, I’m excited about it!
She mentioned, “You’re keen on discovering enjoyable methods to introduce change while still preserving your foundation. I can hardly wait for this collaboration, though I won’t disclose the title of the other project.
Currently, Brunson has disclosed that the upcoming show will clash with another comedy series based in Philadelphia, famously known as “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
On Instagram, the actress posted a photo featuring Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day from “It’s Always Sunny.” She captioned it, “The fourth season of ‘Abbott Elementary’ is going to have some Sunny vibes!
As a fan, I never anticipated this match-up, but now that I see it, it’s clear it was a brilliant idea! I can hardly wait to see what unfolds.
I myself happened to come across an image that was previously shared on X or Twitter by McElhenney. Later on, he posted another snapshot featuring his co-star, Danny DeVito, along with Tyler James Williams from Abbott Elementary and William Stanford Davis.
Previously discussing the concept of crossover, Brunson expressed: “I’m a big fan of television, as many know, but what truly captivates me are those memorable TV moments. I miss the grandeur of those moments. If there’s anything I can do with Abbott to maintain the spirit of enjoyable television, I will definitely do it. I believe this is going to be an entertaining TV experience.
Abbott Elementary” will resume on October 9, 2024, on ABC in the United States. Meanwhile, in the UK, you can stream the series on Disney+.
