Abbie Chatfield’s mum follows in her daughter’s footsteps as it’s revealed she’s looking for love on The Golden Bachelor

Laura Chatfield, the mother of Abbie Chatfield, will be appearing as a contestant on the upcoming Australian version of The Golden Bachelor.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by stories of love! I’m hearing that a 64-year-old primary school teacher is joining the show, hoping to find a connection with Barry ‘Bear’ Myrden, who’s a widower. It’s lovely to see people finding love at any age, and I’m excited to see how her journey unfolds!

Abbie, known for appearing on The Bachelor with Matt Agnew in 2019, announced some happy news on her Instagram Story on Monday.

‘Can finally tell you my gorgeous mum is on The Golden Bachelor,’ she wrote.

The women set to compete on the dating show were announced on Monday.

I’m so excited to introduce the incredible women joining me today! We have Angela, a wonderfully insightful psychotherapist from Victoria, who’s 52. Then there’s Bianca Dye, the fabulous TV and radio personality from Queensland – she’s 51 and always brings the energy! And finally, we have Catherine, a talented interior designer from NSW, age 56, who has an amazing eye for style. I know you’re going to love hearing from all of them!

The group also includes Elizete, a 54-year-old property manager from New South Wales; Gera, a 52-year-old real estate business owner from Western Australia; Hamidah, a 60-year-old disability support worker from New South Wales; and Jan, a 66-year-old age transformation coach who also lives in New South Wales.

Jane, a 60-year-old interior designer from New South Wales, Janette, a 61-year-old Pilates studio owner from Victoria, Katrina, a 55-year-old NICU nurse from Queensland, and Kim, a 60-year-old doctor also from Queensland, are all hoping to win Bear’s affection.

The show also features Linda, a 61-year-old stylist from Queensland, along with Lauren, a 60-year-old dressage team manager also from Queensland. Joining them are Nicolette, a 55-year-old singer from New South Wales, Pip, a 60-year-old hoist operator from Victoria, and Shamse, a 60-year-old interior designer.

Oh my gosh, and then there’s Shana, she used to be in education sales and is just amazing at 60! And Sunny, the CEO, he’s 58 and totally captivating! Don’t even get me STARTED on Terri, the property investor – she’s 61 and absolutely incredible. I’m already rooting for all of them!

Samantha Armytage will host the debut season, which was filmed earlier this year in Sydney.

People close to Bear say he’s now open to finding love, after his friends and family have been gently encouraging him for years.

A friend told Daily Mail Australia that Bear constantly complains his sons think the women he dates are too young and attractive for him.

We always joked he’d be perfect for a reality show like Married at First Sight, so it’s not shocking to see him potentially becoming the Bachelor.

Oh my gosh, they’re saying this season is going to be *totally* different! Apparently, the producers are really trying to make it more real and emotional. And Bear? He’s not just some reality TV heartthrob this time. They’re hinting he’s bringing all his life experiences – the good *and* the bad, all the love he’s known and any heartbreak he’s gone through – right to the show. I’m already bracing myself for feels!

‘He’s not your usual reality TV type,’ an insider said.

He’s a captivating and thoughtful man who has experienced a lot in life. He’s known both joy and hardship, and now he’s eager to find love again. He’s sure to be a hit with women.
