Abbie Chatfield is eyeing a career as an artist.
The podcaster recently shared her newest work with fans on Instagram Stories.
The 30-year-old recently started painting and unveiled her first piece: an abstract and colorful portrait of a slug.
Abbie finished her slug sculpture and has started an Instagram page, called Bug Doing Art, to showcase her creations.
The page has already collected over 1000 followers just hours after being made.
Abbie recently shared an update on her book, which she’s been working on for a while. However, she’s decided to switch the topic again.

Abbie has not yet explained what the new subject is going to be.
Last year, Abbie admitted that she stopped writing her first book about four years ago.
In 2020, a former star of The Bachelor received an advance to write a book about feminism, tentatively titled ST (short for ‘So, let’s unpack that’). However, the project was ultimately cancelled and the book was never published.
Abbie struggled to finish her book and stopped writing it for four years. Eventually, she decided to start working on it again.
On her podcast, ‘It’s A Lot,’ Abbie revealed she almost stopped writing her book, fearing her feminist viewpoints weren’t unique enough and would lose impact.
She shared that she was concerned her work might feel old-fashioned after five to ten years, and admitted she had a tendency to strive for perfection in her writing.
She explained that she returned her book advance because she was unable to write the story. She felt a lot of self-imposed pressure to create a perfect first draft, which ultimately hindered her progress.
I’ve always struggled with perfectionism when I write. It’s like my brain immediately starts judging everything, and I used to get stuck because I was constantly asking myself if what I was writing was the smartest possible thing to say. It made it really hard to just get words on the page.

I’m wondering if this book will feel dated in five or ten years. I suspect it might not be outdated exactly, but perhaps irrelevant. It covers foundational feminist concepts, and I worry those ideas will lose their impact over time.
I was afraid of saying something I’d regret later – something that, looking back in five or ten years, would seem incredibly obvious or foolish.
The host of FBoy Island likened the situation to reading old articles about feminism, explaining that while the core concepts were once vital, they now feel ‘outdated’ because of the progress made towards gender equality.
She continued, saying that while these things are currently important, and were groundbreaking in the past, she wasn’t expecting her own book to be revolutionary – and she was trying not to put too much pressure on herself.
Books and my podcast inevitably contain information that ages poorly. When I listen back to older episodes, I often realize I was mistaken or expressed things differently than I would now.
Abbie is writing again after a four-year break, and this time she’s focusing on enjoying the process rather than worrying about getting another book published. She hasn’t signed a new publishing deal yet, but she’s feeling less stressed about it.
‘I’m approaching it with less criticism and I’m just word-vomiting and it’s going OK. I still haven’t resold the rights to it, to a publisher because I just don’t want to do the same thing again,’ she added.
Abbie explained that her book, originally planned for release in July 2021, was designed as a beginner’s guide for young feminists.
She explained that she aims to expose and dismantle harmful sexist ideas and challenge common beliefs that reinforce male dominance.
