Abbie Chatfield divides opinion with controversial views on pet ownership after giving away her puppy

As a dedicated follower and animal lover myself, I find Abbie Chatfield’s recent decisions regarding pet ownership both heartbreaking and intriguing. Having owned pets my whole life, I can empathize with her struggles when it comes to ensuring the well-being of our beloved companions.

Abbie Chatfield has divided opinion with her views on pet ownership after rehoming her puppy.

On Tuesday, the 29-year-old presenter of FBoy Island made an appearance on a unique episode of Channel Nine’s The Hundred, themed around animals.

In this game show, comedian Andy Lee acts as the host. He poses questions to the guest panelists, then compares their responses with those of a surveyed group of one hundred people.

Host Andy inquired from guest Abbie, “Is it alright to drop by someone’s place with your pet without prior notice? Approximately how many people out of a hundred do you believe would find that acceptable?

Abbie, who came to the show dressed as a bunny, responded with a staunch ‘no’.

She expressed that it felt somewhat unusual for someone to announce they were bringing their pet dog, and it appeared as though most people at The Hundred concurred with her sentiment.

It comes as Abbie made the heartbreaking decision to rehome her almost one-year-old puppy Daisy.

The Bachelor star announced the sad news on her It’s a Lot podcast last week.

Abbie requested her audience on Instagram, who viewed the video she posted from the episode’s recording, to give it a thorough listen before offering their comments in her caption.

She started off by expressing her apprehension about today’s recording session. She confessed her fear of potential negative responses, as she was quite uneasy about the overall circumstance.

I’m choosing to be truthful, as I firmly believe that the choice I made was the best one for me and all concerned parties.

‘I’ve had to rehome Daisy.’

Daisy is a one-year-old cocker spaniel the media personality adopted into her family in April.

‘I’m going to cry,’ Abbie said as she began to explain her decision.

Daisy will be a year old soon, but I also have an older dog named Mr. Walter who is already eight years old. So, Daisy is my younger pup compared to Mr. Walter.

Due to Walter’s past traumas and their effects on him, I have made the difficult decision to find her a new home. Please understand that I’ve been deeply contemplating this choice for about six months now.

Walter suffers from anxiety caused by his previous owners.

Abbie emphasized during the podcast, “I have given it my very best effort, and I honestly never imagined myself having to part ways with a beloved dog.

As a devoted pet parent residing in the heart of Sydney, I’ve been tirelessly exploring every possible solution to help my cherished canine companions coexist harmoniously. In essence, I’ve left no stone unturned in my quest for harmony between them.

The widely-adored TV and radio presenter has experienced an immense emotional strain due to the decision, expressing that until recently, when she handed Daisy over to her new owners, she had been sobbing uncontrollably in the shower.

I’ve been her caretaker, navigating the most challenging stages of her early life. I’ve put in a lot of effort, handling all the tough tasks with her. As a result, she has become an exceptional pet.

‘She wraps her arms around my neck when she sleeps. I can’t erase his past traumas, but the best I can offer him is a secure living environment.’

Abby mentioned that she found a new home for Daisy with her friend’s sister living in Brisbane, who made the trip from Sydney to get her.

She gathered all of Daisy’s belongings, jotted down a comprehensive list of her dietary needs and favorite activities, all in preparation for her new caretaker.

After a few weeks, I’m completely confident that this was the best choice for both dogs, yet I’m deeply saddened,” she wrote in her podcast post’s caption.
