Abbey Holmes is pregnant! Footy commentator to welcome first child with husband Keegan Brooksby

As a dedicated follower of Abbey Holmes’ career and personal journey, I am absolutely thrilled to hear about her upcoming motherhood! This news is just another testament to her incredible strength, resilience, and determination.

I have been following Abbey’s career since her days as an AFLW star, and it has been awe-inspiring to watch her grow and excel in her field. Her dedication to her craft is unparalleled, as she juggles her on-screen commitments with Channel Seven alongside marathon training.

However, the path to the New York Marathon wasn’t easy for Holmes. The early mornings, the sacrifices, and the guilt were all part of her journey, but her determination and hard work paid off when she crossed the finish line, tears streaming down her face in sheer joy.

Now, Abbey is embarking on a new chapter of her life as a mother-to-be, and I couldn’t be happier for her. She discovered she was pregnant just a few weeks after returning home from her New York Marathon run, which must have been quite a shock given the physical toll that marathon training takes on the body.

Nevertheless, Abbey and her husband Keegan are “on cloud nine” and cannot wait to welcome their first child later this year. They have been sharing the happy news with as many people as possible, and it’s clear that this is a special time for them all.

I am excited to see how Abbey navigates motherhood while continuing to excel in her career. I have no doubt that she will approach this new challenge with the same determination, resilience, and grace that she has shown throughout her life.

As for my joke, here it goes: I hope that when Abbey’s baby grows up, they inherit their mom’s athletic abilities… but not her love for early morning runs! 😄

Former AFLW star Abbey Holmes is expecting her first child with husband Keegan Brooksby.

On Wednesday, the sports commentator from Channel Seven, aged 33, shared delightful news through Herald Sun. She expressed that she and her husband were overjoyed, using the phrase “we are floating on cloud nine.

First, Abbey announced her pregnancy news to her family during Christmas, following which she disclosed that she found out about her pregnancy after participating in the New York Marathon in November.

She expressed that, considering the ordeal her body had recently endured, it came as quite a surprise, yet she’s amazed by the incredible capabilities of the human body.

Despite all circumstances, Abbey expressed her joy by saying that she and Keegan are overjoyed to bring their first child into the world later on this year.

We’re thrilled and thankful to find ourselves here, aware of the challenges that many face. We’re absolutely ecstatic and eagerly looking forward to embarking on this new phase in our lives.

Abbey mentioned that the pair are making a point to inform numerous individuals face-to-face about their significant announcement, expressing that it’s an exceptionally joyous period for everyone involved.

Upon my return from the exhilarating New York Marathon, I found myself with an unexpected surprise – a budding pregnancy – mere weeks later, back on Australian soil.

Overwhelmed by emotion, Abbey could no longer contain it once she reached the finish line of her inaugural marathon in New York City.

seven-star posted an emotional video showcasing the instant she dabbed her eyes, moved to tears by the accomplishment of finishing the 42.2 kilometer race.

‘Speechless. Proud,’ she captioned the clip.

‘The emotion on that finish line hit me reeeeaal hard. I am a marathon runner!’

As the race approached, she openly discussed her experiences, highlighting not only the challenges she overcame but also the victories she celebrated along the way.

‘It’s been a journey,’ she posted, the day before the race.

As a lifelong fitness enthusiast, I’ve learned that my mornings are sacred for exercise, even when it feels impossible to squeeze them into my busy schedule. The struggle of waking up early and going for a run is real, but the sense of accomplishment afterward makes it all worthwhile. Missed gym sessions can weigh heavily on my conscience, creating a pang of guilt that lingers throughout the day. However, those days when I manage to make it to the gym and have a successful workout are pure bliss. The endorphin rush and feeling of strength and vitality they bring are unparalleled, making the effort worth every second spent sweating and pushing myself.

She went on to say: ‘I’ve gathered lessons, experienced growth. Felt amazing one moment, felt low another. Had my high points, my low points. This year has been fantastic, and I’ve truly enjoyed taking on this task!’

In November 2023, Abbey and Keegan exchanged vows in an awe-inspiring wedding at Uluru, located in Australia’s Northern Territory.

I recently had the pleasure of tying the knot in the presence of approximately 100 dear ones, among them my Channel Seven commentary comrades, Luke Hodge and Brian Taylor.

Additionally present was fellow Survivor Australia competitor and Olympic freestyle skier, Lydia Lassila.

Previously known AFLW athlete posted a collection of romantic wedding photos on Instagram, which beautifully documented the tender moments they both expressed their love and commitment during their ceremony.

Lana Wilkinson styled her for the occasion, while Alysia Bridger expertly orchestrated the event.

On the 6th of November, 23rd, Abbey penned down alongside her pictures, ‘A flawless day spent with the flawless individual, right in the Heartland of Australia.’

Keegan is a former AFL ruckman who is now head of development at Hawthorn.

Many of their celebrity friends were quick to congratulate the pair on the amazing news.

‘Wonderful news! Congratulations team,’ wrote Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac.

The Bachelor’s Tim Robards added: ‘Amazing’.
