Abbey Clancy was in the stands on Saturday at Liverpool’s Anfield stadium to root for her husband, Peter Crouch, who was playing in a charity football match for Legends.
The 40-year-old model beamed with pride as she watched her husband, a 45-year-old former footballer, play against Borussia Dortmund. They’ve been married for 15 years.
The actress looked stylish on her outing, wearing a brown faux-fur coat and fashionable black cat-eye sunglasses while she enjoyed time with friends in the audience.
On the pitch, the Liverpool legends were held to a 2-2 draw by a team of Borussia Dortmund greats.
This follows Abbey’s story about a Valentine’s Day surprise for her husband, Peter, that didn’t go as planned and was quite embarrassing.
The model said she wore revealing lingerie and a mac coat to playfully surprise the former soccer player during their date.
Peter surprised his wife by hiring a chef to cook for them at home, but she ended up feeling uncomfortable and overheated all night because she hadn’t expected it and was still wearing her coat.
On their podcast, The Therapy Crouch, Abbey recounted a disappointing surprise, explaining that she’d received a beautiful outfit from Agent Provocateur and immediately put it on under her coat.
Pete unexpectedly announced they’d hired a chef, so I had to stay in my coat throughout the entire dinner at home.
I was so anxious that I had to keep my coat on throughout the entire meal, even at home, and I ended up sweating from the stress.
Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I heard Abbey talking about this hilarious thing that happened. Apparently, she was wearing a Burberry Mac, and this guy just kept relentlessly asking her if she wasn’t hot in it! It was so embarrassing for her, and honestly, I’m living for the story. I can just imagine how awkward that must have been! It’s amazing, just…amazing!
Peter finally understood why Abbey kept her coat on, but by that point, it would have been impolite to ask the chef to step outside, so he didn’t.
He explained he wasn’t going to leave either. He described how annoying it is when people come over and feel the need to over-explain the food – he said he just wants them to get to the point and stop talking. He was eager to find out what was really going on.
Abbey, a mother of four, shared that a cozy night in can be just as romantic as a night out for Valentine’s Day, and couples shouldn’t feel pressured to go all-out on February 14th.
She said it was lovely to have a night in, especially if you could get the children looked after. She added that sometimes there’s a lot of stress, but affection doesn’t require spending money.
Peter agreed: ‘There’s so much pressure now because of Instagram, you compare everything’.
I’ve always admired how this couple keeps things simple. They told me they don’t really do gifts – a thoughtful card and some flowers are more than enough for them, which I think is lovely and so much more meaningful than extravagant presents.
Abbey isn’t shy about making a statement with her fashion choices. She once famously wore only a Burberry trench coat to collect Peter from training, hoping to convince him to come home with her.
The model revealed she wasn’t wearing anything under her designer coat, and Peter admitted this playful tactic to distract him from the football pitch had been quite effective.
Peter admitted on his podcast, Therapy Crouch, that he’s easily surprised. He jokingly said that coming home to find someone without any clothes on would be the ultimate surprise.
It’s really quite easy – just don’t wear any clothes, and I’ll be thrilled. I’m simply telling you what I want.
Abbey confessed: ‘I picked you up from training once like that, didn’t I?
I remember when you got me that Burberry Mac. I once carried a mannequin wearing it – just the coat and nothing else – all the way home from a training session.
Peter admitted: ‘And it worked – very well.’
Peter said Abbey wasn’t very romantic, explaining that he always had to take the lead. He felt she never made any romantic gestures herself, and that was the issue.
When she did try on one of his birthdays, by hiring a stripper for him, it proved a disaster.
Abbey explained that he became extremely angry. She tried to cheer him up with a playful message, but he still became furious. When she hired a dancer, he overreacted, upset that people were watching him, and immediately asked her to leave.
‘She didn’t even take one sock off.’
Peter described a surprising incident while dining at a Liverpool restaurant. He said a stripper unexpectedly began performing, and people immediately started recording it on their phones. This happened while he was a player for both Liverpool and the England national team.
I told her I couldn’t help, so I gave her some money and asked her to leave. She said okay and then she left.
‘I was so mortified by the whole situation.’
