Abbey Clancy reveals how a ‘highly embarrassing’ Valentine’s Day strip for Peter Crouch went horribly wrong and she was left ‘sweating’ in her coat all night

Abbey Clancy shared a story about a Valentine’s Day surprise for her husband, Peter Crouch, that didn’t go as planned and ended up being quite embarrassing.

The 40-year-old model said she wore revealing lingerie and covered it with a coat to surprise her ex-footballer partner during a date night.

She ended up feeling uncomfortable and overheated all night after her husband, Peter, age 45, unexpectedly hired a chef to cook dinner at their house.

On their podcast, The Therapy Crouch, Abbey described a disappointing experience. She explained that she received a beautiful outfit from Agent Provocateur, put it on, and then immediately covered it with a coat.

Pete unexpectedly announced they’d hired a chef, so I had to spend the entire dinner at home wearing my coat.

I was so anxious during the meal that I kept my coat on the entire time, and I actually started sweating from the worry.

When asked about wearing a Burberry Mac, Abbey admitted it was a bit embarrassing. She explained that someone kept asking her if she wasn’t hot wearing it.

It finally dawned on me why Abbey kept her coat on, but by that point, it was too late to ask the chef to step outside – it just would have been incredibly impolite. I really wish I’d figured it out sooner!

He expressed his annoyance with people who overstay their welcome and unnecessarily explain things, saying he just wants them to leave. He used strong language to convey his frustration, stating he wished they would simply go away and stop bothering him.

Abbey, a mother of four, believes Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about going out. She says couples can have just as romantic a night at home and shouldn’t feel pressured to spend money or go anywhere special on February 14th.

She said it was lovely to have a quiet night in, especially if you could get the children looked after. She added that while life can be stressful, love shouldn’t be about spending money.

Peter agreed: ‘There’s so much pressure now because of Instagram, you compare everything’.

The couple also mentioned they prefer a simple gesture instead of gifts, saying a thoughtful card and flowers are plenty.

Abbey isn’t shy about making a statement with her fashion. She previously recounted a time she wore only a Burberry trench coat to pick up Peter from training, hoping to convince him to come home with her.

The model revealed she was wearing nothing underneath the designer coat, and Peter admitted the strategy to distract him from the football pitch had been highly effective.

Peter admitted on his podcast, Therapy Crouch, that he’s easily surprised. He jokingly said that coming home to find someone without any clothes on would be the ultimate surprise for him.

It’s really straightforward – just don’t wear any clothes, and I’ll be thrilled. I’m simply telling you what I want.

Abbey confessed: ‘I picked you up from training once like that, didn’t I?

I remember when you got me that Burberry Mac. I once picked up a friend from training wearing only that – it was all he had on – just to get him home.

Peter admitted: ‘And it worked – very well.’

Peter felt Abbey wasn’t making an effort to be romantic, explaining that he always had to take the lead. He said, ‘It’s always up to me to plan everything – that’s the issue.’

When she did try on one of his birthdays, by hiring a stripper for him, it proved a disaster.

Abbey explained that he became extremely angry. She tried to cheer him up with a playful message, but he still lost his temper. He was particularly upset when a dancer he hired attracted attention, and immediately asked her to leave.

‘She didn’t even take one sock off.’

Peter described a surprising incident while dining at a Liverpool restaurant. He said a stripper unexpectedly began performing, and people immediately started recording it on their phones. This happened while he was a player for both Liverpool and the England national team.

I told her I couldn’t help and offered her some money to leave. She agreed and left right away.

‘I was so mortified by the whole situation.’
