Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Marvel flop becomes a Netflix hit

Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s film “Kraven the Hunter” has gained popularity on Netflix, despite its lackluster reception at movie theaters.

In this movie, the villain opposite Spider-Man is portrayed by Taylor-Johnson as Sergei Kravinoff, a crime lord’s son with a burning ambition to be recognized as the ultimate land hunter. This film marks the culmination of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, which consists of the Venom trilogy and the critically maligned Madame Web series.

Last year’s debut of Kraven the Hunter was met with little acclaim both by audiences and critics, finishing third at the US box office during its premiere. It struggled to make an impression financially as well, bringing in only $11 million on its opening weekend. The film also didn’t receive favorable responses from reviewers, currently holding a dismal 15% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on critic reviews.

However, it appears that the movie has been reinvigorated following its addition to Netflix, managing to secure the third spot on their global Top Ten films chart during its initial week, with this success being achieved exclusively from its U.S. debut.

Currently, the movie has been viewed approximately 7.1 million times, making it second only to a few other films such as “Plankton: The Movie,” a SpongeBob spinoff, and “The Electric State,” a new sci-fi adventure starring Millie Bobby Brown.

Last year when the movie was launched, Digital Spy provided an overall unfavorable critique; however, they did commend Aaron Taylor-Johnson and certain aspects of the film’s action scenes.

Similar to Madame Web, Kraven the Hunter is set to hit theaters this Friday following numerous release date postponements, accompanied by clear indications of edits. These modifications, if intended to save it, may have only made its situation worse,” was written previously.

You can stream Kraven the Hunter right now on Netflix in the United States. For our friends in the UK, the movie will soon be available through Sky Cinema.
