A “mind-blowing” horror film starring Breaking Bad‘s Aaron Paul has landed on Prime Video.

Under the guidance of musician Flying Lotus, the film titled Ash unfolds as we follow Riya (Eiza González), a space traveler who unexpectedly finds herself on an enigmatic world, where she uncovers the grim truth that her fellow crew members have met with a gruesome fate.

Shortly thereafter, she encounters Brion (Paul), who clarifies that he was among the group initially, but managed to survive since he was commanding a vessel during the assault. Similar to Riya, he too has no recollections of the incident, and their fearful journey is far from complete.

After making its initial appearance at this year’s SXSW event, the movie titled “Ash” started off with a perfect score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. However, that rating has since lowered to an impressive 74%.

According to Variety, the movie was “stunningly amazing”, whereas Slant Magazine referred to it as a “reliable tool for delivering exciting genre suspense.

Bloody Disgusting described it as a cinematic version of an extremely violent space survival horror video game, offering an immersive and experiential feeling. The movie’s atmosphere is intense and overwhelming, with its persistent score growing louder as the chaos escalates.

Screen International noted: “The movie is likely to draw a significant audience from genre enthusiasts and late-night film buffs. Additionally, enthusiasts of the artist Lotus will appreciate his creation of the film’s expansive, ominous electronic soundtrack that enhances its eerie atmosphere.

Simultaneously, IndieWire described Ash as a mind-bending, intense psychedelic sci-fi journey that isn’t just watched but lived through.

In an interview with Polygon, Aaron Paul shared his experience collaborating with Eiza González, whom he’s been friends with for over a decade.

He expressed, “I have such a deep affection for Eiza. We’ve been acquainted for quite some time now, and when she relocated to LA, we quickly formed a strong bond. There’s something about her that’s incredibly captivating – you can’t help but want to be near her. She has this unique ability to brighten any space, making everyone feel welcome. Her warmth and intelligence are truly remarkable.

However, once we chose to confront this challenge side by side, it became immediately clear – wow! Indeed, she’s in her current position due to an abundance of love and commitment. Her passion for filmmaking is simply unwavering.

She has a deep passion for acting, and her preparations are nothing short of extraordinary. I hold her in high esteem and regard, and I’d be more than happy to follow her path wherever it may lead.
