Match preview: Different types of comeback
Over the past several tournaments, Team Vitality has truly shone. Not only do they participate in CS2 esports events, but they consistently emerge victorious. This trend held true for events such as IEM Dallas, Melbourne, and Katowice; BLAST Rivals Spring; and ESL Pro League Season 21.
Winning another major tournament would be a fantastic addition to Vitality’s collection of victories, but the event in Austin demonstrated that they can indeed be beaten, as Legacy managed to do so in the first match of Stage 3.
For Team Vitality to make a strong return following their previous matches, they had an overwhelming advantage – almost completely outplaying their opponents in each game. In the quarterfinals, there was barely any opportunity for NAVI to progress beyond that round against Team Vitality.
At Stage 3 of this Major, MOUZ initially found themselves in the elimination bracket. However, they managed to regroup and pull off a comeback that secured their spot in the playoffs.
In the quarterfinals, MOUZ went up against Team Spirit. Throughout the game, the Shanghai Major 2024 champions held the upper hand, forcing MOUZ into a comeback. However, they managed the situation admirably and ultimately eliminated Spirit from the competition.
In the major Counter-Strike 2 tournaments held throughout 2025, team MOUZ reached three significant finals. Regrettably, on each occasion, they were defeated by Team Vitality. This pattern repeated itself as recently as Intel Extreme Masters Dallas 2025, which took place only a month ago.
2025’s BLAST.tv Austin Major champion will be decided during the final showdown on June 22nd. Upcoming is the Intel Extreme Masters Cologne 2025, running from July 23rd until August 3rd.
