A Steel Magnolia still! Shirley MacLaine, 91, recovers from a slip as she steps out in colorful outfit for Malibu lunch date

Shirley MacLaine, looking radiant, strolled leisurely along the upscale main street in Malibu, heading to Lucky’s Steakhouse for a nice lunch.

The famous actress is a frequent visitor to local restaurants, often choosing Kristy’s Malibu Café. However, this time the 91-year-old tried something new, dining at a popular, high-end steakhouse known for attracting celebrities like the Kardashians.

Sally Field stepped out on November 4th with her classic colorful style. She wore a vibrant red jacket over a Palm Springs-themed crewneck in sea green and yellow, combined with sage-colored cargo pants and reddish-brown slip-on shoes.

The Academy Award-winning actress, known for her distinctive round glasses, carefully walked along the sidewalk, supported by a friend who offered her his arm. She held a black purse tightly.

After having lunch, the two stopped by the upscale grocery store, Pavilions, to buy three bouquets of flowers and a bag of groceries before continuing on their way.

Shirley MacLaine, showing her age with a slightly less steady walk, also caused concern earlier this year when people noticed red spots on her face and that she seemed frailer before her April birthday.

She spotted it in March while enjoying a late lunch and a glass of red wine with a caregiver at her usual spot, Kristy’s Malibu café, close to Zuma Beach.

Even though people have been worried about her health lately, Shirley MacLaine still strongly believes in New Age spirituality. She recently shared with Jennifer Aniston that she thinks they were mother and daughter in a previous life.

The Academy Award-winning actress, and older sister of Warren Beatty, has often spoken about feeling connected to her past lives.

Throughout her life, she has shared detailed memories of many past lives, including being a woman in a Turkish harem, an entertainer in ancient civilizations, and a Romani (gypsy) in Spain. She has also asserted that she once lived in the legendary city of Atlantis, supposedly millions of years ago.

Jennifer Aniston shared on The Drew Barrymore Show that Drew believes they were mother and daughter in a past life, and Aniston feels this explains their immediate connection. She described Drew as ‘fantastic’.

Aniston added that the two attended a ‘past life regression retreat’ together in New Mexico.

It’s interesting that MacLaine has a close, loving on-screen relationship with Aniston, especially considering her difficult relationship with her own daughter, Sachi Parker, in real life.

In her 2013 memoir, Lucky Me, Parker openly shared the difficult details of her past, revealing a childhood marked by emotional neglect and a lack of connection with her family.

Shirley MacLaine didn’t believe her daughter’s story, calling it mostly made up. Her daughter, Parker, claimed she was sent to live with her father in Japan when she was two years old and only saw her mother during holidays and summer breaks.

Now in her nineties, Shirley MacLaine is making some life changes, including selling her large 7,500-acre ranch near Abiquiú, New Mexico, which is listed for $17.4 million.

Last year, she faced criticism when the independent film People Not Places, which featured her, allegedly didn’t pay its crew around $245,000 in wages.

‘This whole thing is really a disaster,’ one crew member told Variety in June 2024.

The publication called the problems with the production a clear example of how difficult things are for the industry right now.

The movie centers around a lively older woman who becomes friends with a homeless man, portrayed by Stephen Dorff. It also explores her efforts to repair a difficult relationship with her son.

By May, the debt had grown to $672,749. This happened after the New Jersey Department of Labor won a legal judgment against Jeff Katz, the main financial backer of the film.

Shirley MacLaine was married to Steve Parker, her daughter Sachi’s father, for 28 years, from 1954 to 1982. She later shared that they had an open relationship during their marriage.

I’ve been a fan of this actress for ages, and she’s always been incredibly open about her life. Over the years, she’s hinted at romances with almost everyone she’s worked with – all her leading men, really. But she’s always said there were two she didn’t have anything with: Jack Nicholson and Jack Lemmon. It’s a little detail that’s always stuck with me!

You know, people are always fascinated by on-screen pairings, and it’s funny how things don’t always translate to real life. I remember her saying Jack Nicholson just wasn’t her type, even though they had amazing chemistry together. But with Jack Lemmon? She always spoke about him with such warmth – she’d say he was ‘like a sister to me… a darling,’ which is just so sweet. It really highlights how important genuine connection is, even more than just a spark on camera.
