A “riveting” historical thriller with all-star cast confirms UK release date

Sky has announced the release date for Nuremberg, starring Russell Crowe and Rami Malek.

In the coming historical thriller, the story focuses on the high-profile trials held after World War II where key figures from the vanquished Nazi government were brought to justice by the Allied forces. These trials took place at a court in Nuremberg, Germany, as these individuals faced charges for war crimes.

As we commemorate the 80th anniversary of these trials this very year, the movie Nuremberg is set to hit theaters on 14 November 2025.

The movie is described as a captivating and emotional historical drama, featuring an illustrious ensemble cast such as Crowe, Malek, Michael Shannon, with Richard E Grant from Saltburn, Leo Woodall known for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, and John Slattery who starred in Mad Men, also making appearances.

In the film “Nuremberg”, Crowe plays Hermann Göring, a prominent figure and close ally to Adolf Hitler within the Nazi Party, renowned for his power.

The movie primarily revolves around Dr. Douglas Kelley, an American psychiatrist portrayed by Malek, who was assigned the role of assessing whether Nazi prisoners were mentally capable of facing trials for their wartime atrocities, as depicted in Jack El-Hai’s book The Nazi and the Psychiatrist.

As a gamer, I find myself often embroiled in intricate mental duels with certain NPCs, and one such formidable opponent goes by the name Crowe’s Göring. This digital adversary always pushes me to my limits, making for an exhilarating and challenging game of strategy.

The film titled “Nuremberg” is helmed by James Vanderbilt, who has previously worked on screenwriting for movies such as the first two installments of “The Amazing Spider-Man,” rebooted versions of “Scream,” and the Netflix films “Murder Mystery” starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, along with its sequel.

More recently, it was Vanderbilt who penned the script for “Fountain of Youth,” a movie that debuted on AppleTV+ in May, featuring Natalie Portman and John Krasinski, under the direction of Guy Ritchie.

In a conversation with Deadline, Vanderbilt explained how Nuremberg delves into the delicate balance between justice and retribution following horrific crimes.

As we draw near to marking an extraordinary historical milestone that’s 80 years old, this tale seems more pressing than ever before. I’m eagerly looking forward to the day when viewers will get to experience it unfold on the cinema screen.

Nuremberg will be released in UK cinemas on 14 November.
