A return for Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi would be big for AEW
As a die-hard AEW fan who’s seen more wrestling matches than I can count, I must say that the potential return of Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega is music to my ears! These two powerhouses have been missed dearly in the ring, and their comeback could rekindle the magic that AEW has been offering us.
It appears that All Elite Wrestling is gearing up to welcome back two top talents, Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega, as they’ve been spotted training together, hinting at their potential return to action in the ring.
Ibushi has shared multiple social media updates hinting at a possible comeback and a potential ring match with Omega. On September 18, Ibushi stated that their interaction was “far from over.” In another post, he mentioned that he had the opportunity to train with Kenny once more.
Both Omega and Ibushi have been away from the wrestling ring for an extended period. Omega has been sidelined longer, his last match being in December 2023 against Ethan Page where he emerged victorious. Ibushi’s most recent appearance was at the start of September, but he hasn’t competed in AEW since November of that year. Currently, Omega is dealing with diverticulitis, while Ibushi is recovering from a tibiofibular ligament tear.
Reuniting Kenny Omega and Kota Ibushi would significantly amplify the AEW main event scene, given their numerous storyline possibilities. Already, Omega has an established feud with The Elite, who expelled him from their ranks after attacking him and subsequently replaced him with one of his arch-rivals, Kazuchika Okada. A rematch between Okada and Omega in AEW would undoubtedly be a significant event in professional wrestling. Moreover, Omega may also find himself entangled in a narrative involving “Hangman” Adam Page, as Page could potentially prevent Omega from succumbing to the darkness that currently envelops him.
Ibushi could team up with Omega, creating a compelling combination, or he might opt to carve his own unique path. Imagine a series of thrilling bouts featuring Ibushi against pro wrestling stars like Will Ospreay, Ricochet, and Konosuke Takeshita, all vying for the AEW International Title. Such contests are sure to excite fans who are deeply involved with AEW and the world of professional wrestling as a whole.
Injuries are a plague in professional wrestling, frequently limiting the availability of some of the top names in the industry. Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega are two big names in All Elite Wrestling who are currently out of action. If they are set to return soon, the promotion would be getting two big names back on the scene.
