A Quiet Place: Day One making its way to Paramount+ this week!

As a seasoned gamer with a soft spot for horror movies, I can’t hide my excitement about the upcoming release of “A Quiet Place: Day One” on Paramount+. Having survived countless hours of gaming through the apocalyptic landscapes of Silent Hill and Resident Evil, this prequel promises to deliver a chilling experience that aligns perfectly with my tastes.

This week, one of this year’s top-earning horror flicks, “A Quiet Place: Day One”, is now available for streaming on Paramount+! If you didn’t catch it in theaters or preferred not to pay extra for a rental or purchase, here’s your chance to watch it without breaking the bank. Starting from Tuesday, August 27, Paramount+ subscribers can enjoy watching all three “A Quiet Place” movies consecutively!

As a hardcore gamer, I’ve just dived into the newest installment of my favorite video game series. Interestingly enough, it serves as a prequel to the groundbreaking 2018 movie directed by John Krasinski that set the stage for everything we love today. Krasinski was back in 2020 to pen and direct the sequel before handing over the controls to Michael Sarnoski for Day One. Notably, Sarnoski co-wrote the script for this game based on a story he developed alongside Krasinski.

In the movie “Day One,” which is set on the initial day of an alien invasion, similar to that depicted in “A Quiet Place” and its sequel, we find ourselves following the story of Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o’s character, Sam. A terminally ill woman, Sam yearns for nothing more than to enjoy time with her beloved feline companion, Frodo, and savor a slice of pizza from Patsy’s before she passes away. The film is scheduled for release in 2024.

In a different setting, Sam teams up with Joseph Quinn, and together they navigate through a city overrun by extraterrestrials to retrieve Sam’s pizza and assist Joseph in escaping the island before they become victims of these terrifying creatures that track their prey solely based on sound.

Apart from being warmly received by critics when it came out in June, “Day One” also became one of the highest-grossing horror movies of 2024, earning over $261.1 million while only costing $67 million to produce.

Part of the film’s appeal is the tremendous performances from Nyong’o and Quinn, neither of whom are strangers to the horror genre. Nyong’o was also incredible in the 2019 Jordan Peele film Us, while Quinn had a break-out year in 2022 after starring in the fourth season of the Netflix horror sci-fi series Stranger Things.

If you’re interested in getting a Paramount+ subscription, you have the opportunity to try it out for free first! After the trial period, the cost will begin at an affordable rate of just $7.99 per month.
