After being in cinemas for almost eight months, you can now stream Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale in the UK. Many fans have called it the ideal conclusion to the series, making it a great choice for a weekend watch.
As a huge fan, I was so excited to finally see the third film! It really wraps up the story that started way back in 2010. It follows the Crawley family as they navigate all the big changes happening in England during the 1930s, and it’s a beautiful conclusion to everything we’ve been watching.
The period drama, created by Julian Fellowes and directed by Simon Curtis, features a talented ensemble cast including Michelle Dockery, Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Joanne Froggatt, Paul Giamatti, Phyllis Logan, and Dominic West.

You can currently watch the film in the UK on Sky Cinema and NOW, but both require a paid subscription. Sky Cinema costs £11 per month if you already have Sky TV, and the cinema package on NOW is £6.99 a month.
The first movie in the series is now streaming on Netflix. The 2022 follow-up, A New Era, isn’t currently available for streaming, but you can buy or rent it on Prime Video. All six seasons of the original series are available on ITVX.

Wow, The Grand Finale really lived up to the hype! Everyone seems to agree it was the perfect way to wrap up the series – a truly satisfying ending to a show I’ve loved for so long. And the critics agree too – it’s got a 91% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on 143 reviews, which is amazing!
Digital Spy gave the film three stars, describing it as a pleasant but ultimately unremarkable ending. Our review noted that Julian Fellowes cleverly expands a simple storyline with the familiar class dynamics that Downton Abbey viewers enjoy.
The show feels like it’s carefully wrapping up each character’s storyline for a heartfelt and bittersweet ending. While the journey to get there wasn’t always memorable, if this is truly the end, it’s at least a comforting and emotional farewell.

According to ScreenRant, this movie provides a satisfying conclusion to the series, even if the extra three films dedicated to wrapping things up weren’t really needed. Still, fans who care about these characters will appreciate the finality it offers.
As the movie’s release approached, many of the actors talked about whether this would be the last film in the series. Michelle Dockery shared that the story has a strong sense of handing things over to a new generation, and feels like certain characters are stepping down to let others take over.
