The BBC recently unveiled a sneak peek of their new, tension-filled crime series titled “The Cage“, which stars the talented actress Sheridan Smith.
The drama The Cage is characterized as a thrilling, intense crime tale that unfolds in the context of a Liverpool casino, with two indelible characters as its core. In this production, Smith appears alongside Michael Socha, who previously starred in Showtrial.
When Leanne (Smith) and Matty (Socha) find out that they’ve both been secretly taking money from the casino where they work, their lives become intertwined with each other’s, the criminal underworld they’re dealing with, and the authorities,” reads the summary.
Image shows Smith and Socha standing side by side, with Smith in a casino worker’s outfit and Socha dressed in a suit, both of them outside the casino.
Apart from unveiling the initial preview photos, the BBC also disclosed additional cast members for their upcoming drama. This production is penned by Tony Schumacher, renowned for his work on “The Responder.

Alongside Smith and Socha in the five-piece collection, we have notable actors such as Barry Sloane from ‘House of the Dragon’ and Geraldine James, known for her role in ‘Dope Girls’.
Additionally, we have the following actors joining our team: Anton Bibby, Freya Jones, Sophie Mensah, Abby Mavers, Shaun Mason, Louis Emerick, Ian Puleston Davies, Julia Papp, Katy Carmichael, Dave Hart, Eileen O’Brien, Eithne Browne, and Mona Goodwin.

In a recent statement regarding the forthcoming series, Schumacher expressed his excitement saying: “It’s a privilege to return to BBC and collaborate with gifted individuals like Sheridan, Michael, as well as the crews at Element Pictures and the BBC on my second major project.
Beyond that, having a director like Al adds the final touch to the grand Liverpool story we’re creating jointly. I’m eagerly anticipating that it will be humorous, ominous, but above all, brimming with love, life, and excitement, and I can hardly wait for everyone to witness it.

The Cage is yet to confirm a release date, though will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
