‘A modern-day Indiana Jones’: Guy Ritchie’s heist caper Fountain of Youth hits Apple TV+ this May

Filmmaker Guy Ritchie will soon grace our screens once more with his latest production, “The Fountain of Youth,” set to debut on Apple TV+ in the upcoming month.

In earlier remarks, Ritchie characterized the plot as having the spirit of “Indiana Jones” but set in modern times (as reported by EW). Indeed, the initial trailer exudes this ambiance as two long-separated siblings embark on a worldwide treasure hunt to discover the Fountain of Youth.

In a new role, John Krasinski teams up with Natalie Portman as Luke and Charlotte Purdue. Together, they embark on a quest that requires them to delve into their historical insights to locate the legendary spring. Along this journey, they may just stumble upon eternal life as well.

In addition, Eiza González plays Esme in this film, pursuing the siblings to prevent them from discovering the fountain. This is her third movie working with Ritchie within a two-year span, following “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare” and the upcoming project titled “In the Grey.

Fountain of Youth will be released exclusively on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 23.

The film features Domhnall Gleeson, Arian Moayed, Laz Alonso, Carmen Ejogo, and Stanley Tucci in its cast. The script was penned by James Vanderbilt, who has a history of writing films like the 2022 version of Scream and Independence Day: Resurgence.

In a conversation held in December, Ritchie shared that he intentionally embarked on “Fountain of Youth” as a director to try something fresh and innovative.

As I worked on this project, I realized that it might turn into a mix of comedy, action, and gangster themes, which I’m fond of, but eventually, I felt the need to explore new creative territories as a filmmaker.

Rest assured, you can count on the upcoming film maintaining its signature style from Ritchie, featuring larger action sequences compared to those in “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.

This movie is quite costly – it’s approximately three times more expensive than ‘Ministry’, and this high price tag is evident. Furthermore, when the action begins, it doesn’t let up, and it starts rather promptly. To put it simply, there’s a lot of action in it.

Fountain of Youth is released on Apple TV+ on Friday, May 23.
