A Minecraft Movie cast: Who voices Malgosha and Nitwit?
Currently playing in theaters across the nation is the highly-anticipated film titled “The Minecraft Movie,” featuring an impressive ensemble of stars such as Jason Momoa, Jack Black, and Jennifer Coolidge.
Among the diverse voices in the Overworld’s inhabitance, I’ve come across some well-known figures who keep their identities under wraps.
You may find the voice of the wicked Piglin queen Malgosha familiar, yet struggle to recall where you’ve heard it before. To aid your memory, we’re disclosing that Rachel House, a talented actor from New Zealand, provides the voice for Malgosha.

The house has appeared in films such as “Hunt for the Wilderpeople”, “Next Goal Wins”, and “Godzilla vs. Kong: The New Empire”, but among its most significant live-action roles, it is probably best known for portraying Topaz in “Thor: Ragnarok”.
She hasn’t been the first character to benefit from her voice acting talent. Previously, she lent her voice to Gramma Tala in the movie “Moana” and its sequel, as well as to Terry in Pixar’s film “Soul”, and Mama Coco in the Māori-language version of “Coco”.
The movie based on Minecraft was filmed in New Zealand, and it wasn’t just the local scenery that made an appearance; some of the local acting talent graced the screen as well.
In the film, you’ll find Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie, members of the musical duo “Flight of the Conchords.” While you might have noticed Clement early on as Daryl, the storage unit auctioneer, you won’t see McKenzie in the movie.
In the movie, McKenzie played the character named Nitwit, the Villager, who had an unusual encounter with Vice Principal Marlene (portrayed by Coolidge). She accidentally hit him with her car initially, but later on, they developed a romantic relationship after sharing a dinner together.
In contrast to Nitwit whose head was computer-generated imagery (CGI), McKenzie was dressed in a real-life costume designed by Amanda Neale for the film. As a result, he performed alongside Coolidge during their shared scenes.
Bret was remarkably more appealing than Nitwit, a fact that might not be the nicest to express, but true. Bret McKenzie showcased his genius by making us laugh even through a performance inside a cardboard box,” Coolidge said to Digital Spy.
In the film, Nitwit only speaks like a villager throughout, but the closing credits hint that he has learned to converse fluently in human language by the end.
There’s no mistaking Nitwit’s distinctive voice. But just in case you didn’t notice, let me clarify that Nitwit is indeed voiced by the talented Matt Berry.
There’s a link to the Flight of the Conchords as well, since Berry appeared in What We Do in the Shadows, which was developed by its writer and actor Jemaine Clement. This television series was inspired by the movie that Jemaine wrote and directed alongside Taika Waititi.
