A Man On The Inside’s Season 2 Trailer Has Me Smiling On The Outside With NCIS & Good Place Guest Stars And More

Ted Danson consistently makes TV shows better, and his long career proves it. That’s why I’m excited for Season 2 of his Netflix series, A Man on the Inside, which is coming November 20, 2025. Netflix recently released a trailer for the show, and it looks great, with appearances by familiar faces from shows like NCIS, The Good Place, and New Girl.

First, it’s great to see show creator Michael Schur giving fans a whole season of Ted Danson and his actual wife, Mary Steenbergen, acting together—but this time, their characters won’t be playing versions of themselves, unlike their appearances on Curb Your Enthusiasm. Mary Steenbergen will be playing Mona Margadoff, a former musician, though details about her role are currently limited.

This season, Ted Danson’s character, Charles, will go undercover at Wheeler College for a new mission. He’ll meet a group of quirky new people, and their strange behavior is sure to raise some eyebrows and create complications.

I’m really excited to see some of the new faces they’ve brought in, especially Brad Vinick, who’s played by Gary Cole – you might recognize him from shows like NCIS and Veep. He’s a fantastic actor and I have a feeling he’ll be great in this role.

Brad, a very wealthy executive, makes a substantial donation to the college, which draws Charles into the investigation. Cole excels at portraying arrogant and detached characters, and the trailer and accompanying photo showcase this talent perfectly. I’d love to see a small portrait of him made into merchandise.

Jason Mantzoukas, known for his roles in The Good Place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine, adds his hilarious and energetic style to the show, and his character has a fantastic name.

Apollo Lambrakis is a pleasant contractor with big dreams – he wants to write the Great American Novel. Whether he’ll actually finish it remains to be seen, but if he does, I’m hoping he narrates the audiobook! It would also be fantastic to see him act alongside his former Brooklyn Nine-Nine colleague, Stephanie Beatriz.

  • Max Greenfield (New Girl, The Neighborhood) portrays Wheeler College president Jack Beinger, who is known for his donation-gathering talents
  • Michaela Conlin (Bones, For All Mankind) plays economics teacher Andrea Yi, who supports the changes that the new donations will bring
  • Lisa Gilroy (Jury Duty, Twisted Metal) plays Brad’s new wife Kelseigh Rose, whose passion involves photography
  • Sam Huntington (Being Human, Superman Returns) is a troublemaker with Wheeler’s ranks as professor Max Griffin
  • David Straithairn (The Bourne Legacy, Alphas) will be the head of the college’s English Dept. as Dr. Cole, whose levels fame and popularity are atop those of all other faculty
  • Jill Talley (SpongeBob SquarePants, Mr. Show) rocks the great character name Holly Bodgemark, a stressed out and hardworking provost
  • Madison Hu (The Brothers Sun, The Boogeyman) will play Claire, a college junior who busies herself working multiple jobs in order to keep her tuition paid
  • Constance Marie (George Lopez, With Love) is playing one of Julie’s part-time criminal sources named Vanessa.
  • Linda Park (iStar Trek: Enterprise, For All Mankind) will head up the college’s fine arts department as Elizabeth Muki.

There’s a wealth of talent in this group, but surprisingly few shady secrets! Will any of these contestants give us a heartwarming moment like the beautiful connection between Charles and Gladys? We’ll have to watch and see – and unfortunately, sending a spy to Netflix isn’t an option.

I’m so excited! Season 2 of A Man on the Inside is hitting Netflix on November 20th! I’m already planning a binge-watching session – I might even grab a magnifying glass and a detective hat to really get into the mystery!
