The are about to reach the end of one of their greatest modern sagas, and it is only days away.
Okay, so I’m super hyped for *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles* #12, which comes out on October 22nd! But it’s a bit bittersweet, because after this issue, Jason Aaron and Juan Ferreyra – the team behind the current run – are moving on. Don’t worry though, because Gene Luen Yang is taking over as the writer, and he’s bringing Kevin Williams II with him as the artist, starting with issue #13. I’m really excited to see what they do with the story!

In the latest issue of IDW Publishing’s *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles*, the Turtles are determined to prove their innocence and rebuild their relationships after being wrongly accused of a crime and torn apart. They’ll face a new and dangerous enemy in their fight for freedom.
With Aaron and Ferreyra finishing their run on the comic, Yang and Williams are starting a new, challenging storyline for the *Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles* beginning with issue #13. The comic is already a success, having sold over 100,000 copies. And to add to the excitement, fans have been introduced to Ujigami, the next villain who promises to be a serious threat to the Turtles and Splinter’s clan.
In September, writer Gene Luen Yang expressed his excitement about working on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, calling it a dream opportunity. He shared fond memories of enjoying the original 1980s cartoon with his brother and reading the comics as a kid. Yang also highlighted the importance of the Turtles in his early career, noting he received a grant from a foundation created by one of the series’ co-creators, Peter Laird, and felt honored to contribute to the franchise.
