A look at all of the times Miranda Hart's characters have got married on screen as the comedian, 51, finally says I do in real life

As a dedicated fan who has followed Miranda Hart’s career since her breakthrough with the iconic sitcom “Miranda,” I must say it’s heartwarming to see this beloved comedian finally finding her own happily ever after. Over the years, we’ve watched as Miranda’s characters navigated the ups and downs of love on our screens – from the quirky, clumsy antics of the titular character in her self-titled series to the heartwarming romance of Chummy Browne in “Call The Midwife” and the unexpected twists of “Not Going Out.

This past week, I proudly announced my blissful marriage during an appearance on The One Show, putting to rest all the speculation that had been buzzing around. (Miranda Hart)

As a lifestyle connoisseur, I recently found myself gracing the esteemed BBC show to share the exciting news of my latest literary venture. Titled “I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You,” this captivating book delves into the enigmatic figure who now shares my life as my new husband.

For over fifteen years, Miranda has been widely recognized as the UK’s longest-standing singleton, notorious for her comical romantic misadventures with eligible suitors.

Even though Miranda married her husband at a later stage in life, she had been married three times before, due to playing those memorable roles on television.

For the past twenty years, all of Miranda’s beloved characters from her self-named BBC sitcom “Miranda,” “Call The Midwife,” and “Not Going Out” have tied the knot.

Miranda

In 2009, Miranda soared to prominence through her own BBC sitcom, where her character’s fictitious mother Penny expresses excitement by saying “What a blast!” whenever she believes her daughter is on the verge of getting a date.

It follows her quest to find ‘the perfect man’ and her dalliance with dishy chef Gary.

2015 saw Miranda marry her long-term sweetheart Gary, who was portrayed by Tom Ellis in her sitcom.

In their constantly troubled yet popular comedic series, the characters’ long-awaited vows were exchanged on New Year’s Eve, signifying their union.

Approximately 7 million people watched as Miranda, after overcoming numerous setbacks, mishaps, and miscommunications, walked towards Gary to get married, signifying their long-awaited union.

Despite repeatedly expressing her desire for a fresh start throughout the entire episode, it wasn’t until the very last moment that Miranda shockingly confessed her love for Gary and ultimately married him, leaving fans in suspense until the end.

Call The Midwife

In the final episode of Call The Midwife in 2012, the character played by Miranda, known as Camilla ‘Chummy’ Browne, found a joyful conclusion when she wed PC Peter Noakes.

For quite some time, viewers of the series observed her embarking on an uneasy romantic pursuit alongside PC Noakes, portrayed by Ben Caplan, despite her history of bad luck in love.

Initially, things didn’t go quite as expected when Chummy brought PC Noakes to meet her mother. The meeting didn’t turn out as well as they had hoped.

Chummy became so overwhelmed by her mum’s disapproval that she called off the wedding.

After receiving some support from her midwife friends, Chummy bravely confronted her mother and reconciled with her police officer beau, ultimately getting married as the series came to an end.

The wedding episode attracted 9.2 million viewers.

Not Going Out

British sitcom Not Going Out also saw Miranda walk down the aisle in 2009 during series three.

It emerged that Lucy intended to wed Aleksandar Mikic, a mechanic, primarily for the purpose of maintaining her residency in the country.

Instead, Lee proposed to Barbara, and after she said yes, they embarked on a honeymoon journey in India together.
