A-lister is unrecognizable on set of TV show about accused parent-killer

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by transformations, and let me tell you, seeing this famous TV actress become someone completely different for her role as Lizzie Borden was incredible! She truly disappeared into the character – it was hard to believe it was her! She fully embodied the infamous killer on set, and it was a stunning performance.

This project is the newest installment of Ryan Murphy’s ‘Monster’ series, known for telling the stories of notorious figures like Jeffrey Dahmer, the Menendez brothers, and Ed Gein.

Lizzie Borden was found not guilty in 1893 of murdering her father and stepmother, but she remains widely associated with the crime, largely due to the famous rhyme, ‘Lizzie Borden Took an Axe’.

Several famous actresses have portrayed Lizzie Borden on TV, including Elizabeth Montgomery in the 1970s, and more recently, Christina Ricci and Chloë Sevigny in the 2010s.

A recently honored celebrity – she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame just three weeks ago – has been spotted on the set of the Borden show in Los Angeles. However, she’s portraying a completely different person from history than the one the show is known for.

Can you guess who she is?

Sarah Paulson is taking on the role of Aileen Wuornos, a serial killer from the 20th century, in this project. Interestingly, she won’t be portraying anyone connected to the Borden case.

When 51-year-old Laura Paulson appeared on set, her messy, strawberry blonde hair immediately brought to mind the look of Aileen Wuornos, the person she was portraying.

She hadn’t fully gotten into costume yet, and was still wearing her bathrobe as she prepared to change into her character’s outfit.

The popular actress seemed cheerful and festive, arriving on set with a bag of treats from Susie Cakes bakery.

Paulson and Murphy have worked together for many years, notably on the Emmy-winning series The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, where Paulson played prosecutor Marcia Clark.

She’s currently starring as a villain in Murphy’s new movie, All’s Fair, a legal drama alongside well-known actors like Glenn Close, Niecy Nash, and Naomi Watts, and is giving a particularly dramatic performance.

Charlize Theron won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Aileen Wuornos in the 2003 film, Monster, bringing the character to life on screen.

Patty Jenkins directed the film and later found even greater success fourteen years later with the hit movie Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot.

Although Aileen Wuornos was born in 1956, almost thirty years after Lizzie Borden’s death, the show might still try to find common themes connecting their stories.

Okay, so I’ve been deeply researching Lizzie Borden, and you won’t believe the things people have suggested! There’s this theory – it’s never been proven, mind you – that her father… well, that he actually abused her. It’s this heartbreaking idea that maybe, just maybe, she wasn’t just a cold-blooded killer, but a victim herself, and that’s why she did what she did. It’s just… it adds another layer to the whole story, and honestly, I can’t stop thinking about it.

A sex worker named Wuornos claimed she acted in self-defense, stating she only killed men who had assaulted or attempted to assault her.

Aileen Wuornos identified as a lesbian, and there has been ongoing speculation for years about the close relationship between Lizzie Borden and actress Nance O’Neill.

In August 1892, Abby and Andrew Borden were brutally murdered with a hatchet at their home in Fall River, Massachusetts.

I remember when Lizzie’s case finally went to trial – she was only 32 at the time! It was incredible, the whole country seemed to be watching. The media went wild, it was a total frenzy. I was glued to every update!

Bridget Sullivan, the family’s Irish maid – known as Maggie – testified at the trial, and many believe her account played a key role in Lizzie being found not guilty.

Even though Lizzie was found not guilty in court, the murders were never solved and no one else was ever accused. The case remains unsolved today.

Ella Beatty, the 25-year-old daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening, will play Lizzie in the upcoming Ryan Murphy series. She’s often referred to as a ‘nepo baby’ due to her famous parents.

Rebecca Hall and Charlie Hunnam will play Abby and Andrew Borden, and Vicky Krieps, known for her role in Phantom Thread, will portray Maggie.

Jessica Barden, known for her role in The End of the Fing World, will portray Nance O’Neill, while Billie Lourd—daughter of Carrie Fisher and Bryan Lourd, and granddaughter of Debbie Reynolds—will play Emma, Lizzie’s sister.
