A-list pop star looks unrecognisable in TV guest appearance 13 years ago… can YOU guess who she is?

A world-famous pop star looks completely unrecognisable in a TV guest appearance 13 years ago

The singer, now a two-time Grammy winner, looks remarkably different in footage of her 2013 performance on the Disney show Austin & Ally, starring Ross Lynch and Laura Marano.

The singer, now sporting blonde hair, used to have long, brown hair. She wore it in pigtails when she performed her song, “Who I Am,” during a talent show.

The famous actress was seen wearing a more casual outfit – chunky black glasses, a white shirt, a red skirt, and purple knee-high socks. This look is quite different from the bold and glamorous costumes she typically wears during her popular concerts.

After gaining recognition, the young actress landed a starring role on the Disney show Girl Meets World, where she played Maya Hart alongside Rowan Blanchard (as Riley Matthews) from 2014 to 2017.

But can you guess who this pop star is?

It’s Sabrina Carpenter!

The singer has completely transformed her image, moving away from her innocent beginnings and embracing a bolder, more suggestive style with revealing outfits and mature lyrics.

In the video, Sabrina – who first appeared on TV two years prior with a role on Law & Order – performed a dance and showcased her singing for the very first time.

Sabrina Carpenter first became well-known for her role on the Disney show Girl Meets World. She later appeared in the 2016 movie Adventures in Babysitting and the 2020 Disney+ film Clouds.

Like many other Disney stars before her – such as Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, and Demi Lovato – Sabrina has transitioned into a successful music career.

In 2024, she became a global star thanks to the huge popularity of her singles, “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” and her sixth album, “Short n’ Sweet.”

The songstress went on to open for mega star and friend Taylor Swift during her amazing Eras tour.

Sabrina caused a stir at the Grammys on Sunday night when her performance of the song “Manchild” seemed to be cut short, leading many to believe she was censored.

During her performance of the popular song – which many fans interpreted as a pointed message to her former partner, Barry Keoghan – producers quickly edited out her more explicit lines to make sure the broadcast was suitable for television.

The song features a recurring chorus where the singer angrily asks a dependent person, referred to as a ‘man-child,’ why they constantly seek help and support. She expresses frustration with this dynamic, lamenting the impact it has on her own life and questioning their self-sufficiency. The lyrics include a plea to be left alone and a pointed observation about the other person’s lack of self-awareness.

The pop star was a standout performer at the Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. She made a striking entrance dressed as a pilot, wearing a revealing white outfit with a corset top, high-laced boots, and a classic pillbox hat.

Sabrina addressed the Grammys, saying, “Hello everyone! If you’re hoping to feel appreciated tonight, please stand up and give yourselves a round of applause!”

The singer made a bold entrance, appearing from inside a moving baggage carousel as if stepping into a make-believe airport terminal labeled ‘SCA’ – a playful nod to ‘Sabrina Carpenter Airlines’.

“Manchild,” the first single from Carpenter’s 2025 album Man’s Best Friend, is a sharp and fun song that many think is about her short but widely publicized relationship with Keoghan.

The lyrics, which seemed to address emotional immaturity and confusing behavior, sparked a lot of rumors, particularly because the breakup happened so publicly.

She performed with a diverse group of backup dancers who were costumed as airline travelers and employees – the group even included an astronaut and a priest!

At the end of the performance, Carpenter theatrically pulled out a live dove.

Even though the performance was seemingly censored, it quickly became a major highlight of the event and everyone was talking about it.

X quickly filled with enthusiastic reactions from fans, who praised her performance as one of the most memorable and bold moments of the Grammys.

Oh my gosh, from the very first second of that performance, I was absolutely hooked! Seriously, Sabrina just knows how to command a stage and put on an incredible show. I couldn’t look away for a single moment!

One X user shared their enthusiasm, saying that what they love most about seeing Sabrina Carpenter perform is how genuinely happy and joyful she seems on stage.

This is her second year performing at the Grammys, following her first appearance last year when she was also a nominee.
