A-list Hollywood couple reveal plans to relocate to London as they look to trade Los Angeles for a ‘colder place’

Chrissy Teigen and her husband John Legend have revealed their plans to relocate to London

The prominent Hollywood duo, presently dwelling in Los Angeles, have openly disclosed their preference for relocating to a region with cooler climates.

Chrissy and John have four kids: Luna (nine years old), Miles (seven), Wren (23 months), and Esti (two). They’ve grown fond of the United Kingdom as they’ve celebrated recent Christmases in London.

In a recent interview, the singer expressed the idea of departing from his luxurious $17.5 million residence in Beverly Hills.

According to John, he shared with The Sun: “Everyone in our family enjoys it here. Both Chrissy and the children do, too. In fact, we celebrated both our most recent Christmas and one from a few years back right here.

He added: ‘We like to be in a colder place. We don’t like to be in Los Angeles for Christmas.

In simpler terms, let’s discuss our frequent contemplation of relocating to either New York City or London. These metropolises have piqued our interest as potential places to call home. We’re particularly drawn to their walkable urban environments.

This year, earlier on, John shared that him and his spouse Chrissy were contemplating a long-term relocation away from Los Angeles due to the destructive wildfires they encountered.

On January 7th, the Eaton and Palisades Fires erupted and ultimately razed approximately 17,000 buildings, resulting in at least 29 fatalities.

The pair, along with their four kids, found themselves among other high-profile inhabitants needing to evacuate their residence. They temporarily sought refuge in an upscale hotel.

Fortunately, their $17.5 million Beverly Hills home was not damaged by the blaze.

Yet, the performer openly acknowledged that a shared sense of distress or pain has arisen within the community, leading them to ponder moving to New York with some seriousness due to this issue.

In conversation with The Wall Street Journal, John shared that he and Chrissy have often pondered moving back to New York, a city they previously called home. They plan to do so when their younger children become a little older.

Pondering over how severe natural disasters have affected our region lately, Legend went on: ‘Each time nature unleashes its fury, we find ourselves questioning whether it’s time to move back towards the east coast. After all, uncertainty is always a factor.’

On January 7, as the couple and their kids were settling back into their home from a holiday getaway, the Palisades Fire ignited in the city, only a few hours after their arrival.

During the interview, the singer mentioned remembering the fiery blaze and thick plumes of smoke from the Palisades fire. They also pointed out that their sense of dread increased as they watched the destruction unfold on television.

As the Sunset fire started growing on January 9, it seemed like danger was knocking at his door.

On that particular evening, we rounded up our four children, four canines, and the pet lizard, collected them all, and hit the road southwards, aiming for a hotel in Carlsbad.

Initially, Chrissy posted images and videos showing herself and John taking refuge in a room, as well as mentioning that their pet bearded dragon Sebastian was present during these moments.

John commented, “We didn’t get back till the next week. Thankfully, our house was secure, but not everyone shared the same fate. The danger is still present.

‘The fires were a collective trauma that shook everyone, including our kids.’

The move would be a U-turn for the couple after they chose to sell their Manhattan units in 2022.

Located in the Nolita neighborhood, their two penthouses were sold for $18 million.

In 2018, a couple purchased their initial luxury apartment – a penthouse – for approximately $9 million, as indicated by property documents. The following year, they acquired another penthouse in 2020 at a cost of $7.7 million, according to the same records.
