A Labubu movie is genuinely happening and it’s now got a Paddington connection

Great news for the upcoming Labubu movie at Sony: it will be directed by the filmmaker behind two hugely popular and critically acclaimed family films, including one that was once the highest-rated movie of all time.

Paul King, known for directing the popular Paddington movies and Wonka, will direct and produce the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Although a writer hasn’t been announced, the publication reports that Sony is partnering with Pop Mart, the popular Chinese company known for its collectible toys.

So, about the new Paddington movie, Paddington in Peru – everyone thinks Paul King directed it, but actually he didn’t this time! He was still a big part of it though, as he produced it and wrote the story, which is awesome.

Sony’s recent film, KPop Demon Hunters, was a huge success, becoming Netflix’s most popular original movie. A follow-up is planned, but a recent announcement about its progress has left fans disheartened, as it suggests the sequel won’t be released for quite some time.

With Labubus gaining traction and a well-known director involved, is Sony poised for another big success?
