“A high-stakes game of cat and mouse”: Chris Hemsworth’s new thriller will give you Die Hard vibes
The upcoming action film where Chris Hemsworth will be the lead actor has been referred to as a “submarine-set sequel” to the classic “Die Hard.
Actor from Thor, Chris Hemsworth, will appear in the upcoming thriller movie titled Subversion. This film is based within a submarine and is being helmed by director Patrick Vollrath for Amazon MGM. The news was reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
The action movie is set to start filming this fall in Australia. It revolves around Chris Hemsworth’s character, who plays a rising star in the Navy.

In this scenario, the main character is being pressured by a powerful criminal organization to navigate a submarine laden with illicit goods. This perilous situation, reminiscent of a cat-and-mouse chase, places the pilot in dangerous waters. He must deal with threats not only from outside the submersible but also from within its confines.
In a new partnership between Hemsworth and Amazon MGM, the project named “Subversion” has been penned down by Andrew Ferguson.
The actress who plays the lead in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is also part of the impressive ensemble cast for Crime 101, an upcoming thriller that additionally stars Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, and Monica Barbaro. The film is expected to be released in 2026.
Hemsworth will next be seen in a cameo as himself in Stuntnuts: The Movie alongside Sam Rockwell.
In the movie helmed by stunt organizer Damien Walters, the duo gracefully step into the limelight. The plot revolves around a team of sports enthusiasts aiming to gather resources for their training facility.
In the initial installment of a three-part series, titled “Stuntnuts“, the primary characters are actual stunts, with Bobby Holland Hanton, Hemsworth’s frequent stunt double, portraying the character Nutjob.
In the production, Greg Townley – known for his stunt work as Tom Holland’s stand-in in Spider-Man – takes on the character of Hardnut. Meanwhile, Paul Lowe, recognized from his stunt roles in Game of Thrones, plays Peanut, and Haruka Oshima, a skilled stuntwoman, appears as Hazelnut.
A release date for Subversion will be announced in due course.
