Following the unveiling of Heroes of Newerth: Reborn, a timeline or plan for the project has been posted on the iGames site.
Heroes of Newerth: Reborn (HoNR), which previously ceased operation in 2022, aims to rekindle the passion for the game. On January 28, 2025, a collaboration between Kongor Games and Garena was unveiled, promising the return of the game with a revitalized touch. Equipped with a brand-new engine, enhanced visuals, and a contemporary spin on the cherished original, HoNR aspires to challenge the multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) genre anew.
Heroes of Newerth: The 2025 roadmap
Just a few days following the announcement, the iGames platform already has a 2025 roadmap set for Heroes of Newerth Remastered (HoNR). This timeline outlines the game’s development stages, starting from alpha phase, progressing through beta testing, and culminating in its launch later this year.
By examining our roadmap, it’s clear we’re in the Genesis Campaign phase, a crucial time for funding the creation of the game and securing HoNR’s future. This Kickstarter, or Genesis Campaign, offers 10 varying levels of support, starting from free and extending to an impressive $50,000. Each tier presents unique perks, such as account titles, HoN tickets, custom courier skins, and many other exciting rewards.
Afterward, the game is set for a closed beta phase during Summer 2025, featuring “Road to Rebirth tournaments” that could potentially make it an esports contender. Later in Fall 2025, the game will transition into an open beta period, erasing the progress made during the closed beta. This will allow those who didn’t participate in the Genesis Campaign a chance to start playing before the game reaches its 1.0 launch version in Winter 2025.
The HoNR roadmap outlines a promising direction for the game, yet some are hesitant about the iGames platform given established platforms like Steam and Epic Games. Nevertheless, only time during beta testing can reveal whether the iGames Engine will deliver a satisfactory experience and if HoNR can compete with MOBA heavyweights.
