A forgotten Cillian Murphy and Toby Jones thriller has been added to Prime Video today

Forgotten Cillian Murphy and Toby Jones thriller Red Lights has just been added to Prime Video.

In the 2012 movie, featuring Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, and Elizabeth Olsen, the plot revolves around two characters who scrutinize supposed paranormal scams. They strive to undermine a psychic whose harshest critic passed away under mysterious circumstances many years prior.

The movie from writer and director Rodrigo Cortés has now joined Prime Video as of today.

The film “Red Lights” wasn’t particularly well-received by critics upon its release, with a Rotten Tomatoes “freshness” rating of only 30%.

According to a previous review in Digital Spy, we noted that the action had a surreal, dream-like feel, but it was disjointed and delicate, lacking the necessary tension to maintain interest.

As a devoted cinema enthusiast, I can say that Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Cortes, renowned for his innovative work on “Buried”, skillfully withholds crucial details as he meticulously constructs a mind-blowing climax. Regrettably, the grand reveal falls flat and isn’t worth the suspense it generates.

Certainly, Murphy’s career has flourished significantly following the movie. Last year, he was awarded the Best Actor Oscar for his role in “Oppenheimer“.

The performer will rejoin both the “Peaky Blinders” and “28 Days Later” series for upcoming films, as director Danny Boyle has hinted at his return for the continuation of the sequels in these franchises.

He mentioned that, just like many valuable aspects of life, there might be a brief wait before he shows up, as he spoke during Sony’s CinemaCon event.

If you fancy catching even more Murphy, his 2011 thriller Retreat was recently added to Netflix.

At present, you can find Jones appearing in the movie “Mr. Burton” together with Lesley Manville and Harry Lawtey. This film explores the early life of the legendary screen actor Richard Burton and the educator who had a profound impact on him.

Red Lights is available to stream now on Prime Video.
