A forgotten Chris Evans comic book movie has just been added to Prime Video
I’m thrilled to share that “The Losers,” a 2010 comic book film featuring none other than Chris Evans of Marvel fame, has found its way onto Prime Video in the UK and Ireland! It’s great to see this often-overlooked gem becoming more accessible for fans like us.
According to the comic book series titled “Vertigo’s The Losers,” the story revolves around a CIA special operations unit that is deceived and abandoned by their command, leading them to retaliate with a counter-attack.
In addition to Evans, the cast also includes Idris Elba from “Luther,” Jeffrey Dean Morgan from “The Walking Dead,” and Zoe Saldaña who is known for her role in “Avatar.
What to Read Next
After its premiere, the movie garnered a variety of opinions from critics, ultimately resulting in a 47% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on more than 100 reviews.
According to the review, “The Losers” is a movie that is intense, swift, and never lets up on the violence. However, it also manages to be humorous and convincingly acted, which could make it a hit for some action movie enthusiasts.
In an earlier discussion, the movie’s director, Sylvian White, revealed that he instantly resonated with “The Losers” as he found similarities to the comic books he used to read when he was young.
He shared that he found The Losers appealing because it didn’t follow the usual pattern of a superhero with special powers, as reported by Den of Geek.
The story was modeled after actual people and situations, much like many European comic books I’ve been familiar with since my youth, which were rooted in real life.
Meanwhile, there have been updates regarding Evans’ rumored comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this time in connection with the movie titled “Avengers: Doomsday“.
According to an article published by Deadline in December, it was confirmed that the actor has agreed to join Marvel’s upcoming ensemble movie, which is set to release next year.
Yet, Evans refuted the claim back in January, stating: “Indeed, that’s false. It’s something that frequently occurs. To be more precise, it’s been happening about every couple of years – since Endgame. I’ve merely grown tired of addressing it. Correct, I’m delightfully retired!
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans played Captain America until 2019’s “Avengers: Endgame,” after which Anthony Mackie assumed the role. Most recently, Evans appeared in this past summer’s “Deadpool & Wolverine” film, where he reprised his character from Fox’s “Fantastic Four” series as Johnny Storm.
The Losers is available to stream now on Prime Video in the UK and Ireland.
