As a lifelong fan who’s been through countless editions of “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy, I must say, this new deluxe illustrated box set is nothing short of a dream come true! I remember the first time I read those books as a young lad, huddled under my blankets by the dim light of a flashlight, lost in the magical world of Middle-earth. The thought of revisiting these tales with such stunning illustrations and maps is beyond exciting!
Amazon is preparing to release the second season of “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power,” and it seems everyone wants a piece of the action. While there’s never a wrong time for new “Lord of the Rings” merchandise given the series’ enduring popularity since the 1950s, brace yourself for an increase in all things Middle-earth in the coming days.
In about two months, we will receive an exquisite collector’s item – “The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set,” which includes all three volumes of J.R.R. Tolkien’s beloved fantasy series (“The Fellowship of the Ring,” “The Two Towers,” and “The Return of the King”). This set, priced at $325, offers a rich reading experience with its premium quality. The high cost is justified by the exceptional value it provides: a luxurious binding, detailed illustrations, and the timeless adventure that captivated millions of readers worldwide.
- Hardcover editions of all three books bounds in cloth and leather, with original covers and silver foil typescript on the blue spines.
- Illustrations by Alan Lee, who has contributed to many J.R.R. Tolkien books over the years as well as to Peter Jackson’s movie adaptations of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

- In fact, this “revised and expanded” boxset contains over 50 brand-new pencil drawings and paintings from Lee, spread throughout the three books. The set clocks in at 1,332 pages, which according to Gamespot makes it the longest Lord of the Rings boxset currently in print.
- A decorative slipcase inside of which you’ll find three removeable art cards and two foldout maps of Middle-earth, each originally drawn by J.R.R. Tolkien’s son Christopher, who devoted his career to his father’s work after Tolkien’s death in 1973.
325 dollars might seem steep for a trio of books, but these are three highly-acclaimed books, and the boxset appears to handle them with care. You can now preorder the The Lord of the Rings Deluxe Illustrated Box Set, even though it won’t be shipped until October 1st. Until then, the second season of The Rings of Power, a series set millennia before the main storyline of The Lord of the Rings, debuts on Amazon Prime Video on August 29th.
