Watch “Night Call,” an exhilarating action thriller by director Michiel Blanchart, now streaming on Sky Cinema and NOW (requires a Cinema membership subscription).
In the year 2024, the film is set to be released, featuring Jonathan Feltre, Natacha Krief, Jonas Bloquet, Romain Duris, and Thomas Mustin in leading roles. Directed by Blanchart, this movie marks his first directorial venture. It was produced jointly by Belgium and France as an international collaboration.
In the city of Brussels, the story Night Call unfolds around Mady (Feltre), a student who works as a locksmith during the night. During a particularly eventful evening shift, Mady is summoned to assist Claire (Krief), a woman in distress who declares she’s misplaced her house keys. Upon entering the apartment, however, it becomes clear that Claire had actually burglarized the place to steal money from a dangerous criminal named Yannick (Duris). As a result, Mady finds himself caught up in a life-threatening situation.

Right now, Night Call currently holds an impressive 82% score on Rotten Tomatoes, with Bloody Disgusting praising it as a “thrilling and enjoyable journey.
The Wall Street Journal commented, “With the movie racing towards its final deadline, viewers will likely be just as winded as the locksmith.” Similarly, Night Call offers an unforgettable experience for many that approximates spending a special night in Brussels.

In a similar vein, the New York Times noted: “Although the film follows a common pattern where an ordinary person is drawn into the criminal underworld, Blanchard’s sharp direction and his clever use of New York City’s hidden corners elevate it within the crime-action genre.
While chatting with The Cine-Men, director Blanchart shared the inspiration behind penning the film “Night Call” alongside Gilles Marchand.
Blanchart spoke to The Cine-Men about his motivations for collaborating with Gilles Marchand on the script of “Night Call.

For a long time now, I’ve been yearning to create a film that unfolds over a single night, and it’s become an almost compulsive desire. This obsession stems from the fact that I wanted my initial foray into filmmaking to be impactful, to stand out, to have a distinct concept. Moreover, I can’t help but feel a deep affection for my city when it’s dark and quiet. So, I decided to set my first movie in Brussels at night as a way of making a strong statement with my debut work.
Reflecting on Steven Spielberg’s initial film, “Duel,” which unfolds within a single day using a straightforward premise, I find myself yearning for the same type of debut production.
