A Britain’s Got Talent star reveals she ‘lost control after signing up with Simon Cowel’s talent agency’

A contestant from Britain’s Got Talent disclosed that she “felt overwhelmed following her agreement with Simon Cowell’s talent management firm.

26-year-old Natalie Okri, once likened to “Baby Beyoncé” during her Britain’s Got Talent audition in 2009, is now expressing her struggles with the reality of stardom experienced at an early age.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase it like this: In my younger years, juggling school, rehearsals, studio hours, and live performances was quite a challenge. However, it was when I signed with Simon’s Syco Entertainment label in 2020 that I started feeling like I was losing the reins on my creative pathway, as per The Mirror’s report.

Initially thrilled to sign with a record label once more in 2020, it seems that Natalie is now experiencing remorseful feelings.

She shared with The Mirror her thoughts: “When you’re quite young and there’s a label attached to you, lots of people become involved, and you don’t have as much control over the decisions.

As a devoted admirer, I can’t help but feel that the creative powers-that-be dictate my favorite artist’s choices – from the melodies they perform, to their distinctive style, wardrobe, and even the narrative woven into their work. It often feels like someone else is penning their story, rather than them living it authentically as an individual.

With her hair tied in two pigtails and wearing a pinafore, she appeared as any ordinary ten-year-old schoolgirl from 2009. However, the instant Natalie began to sing, she underwent a remarkable transformation.

Her outstanding show earned praise from the judges, even prompting a standing ovation from the spectators. However, the feedback she received from her peers was far from flattering.

At one point, a singer who greatly admired Beyoncé shared that her peers would tease her due to her exceptional musical talents, as they were jealous of her abilities.

Natalie, living in South London with her mother and sister, shared that there’s a girl in her class who teases her because she usually dresses modestly while the other girl prefers trendy fashion.

‘She is the gang leader and there are about six of them who make me cry. 

‘But I know I can win and show them all what I can do.’

Natalie impressed Simon Cowell and his fellow judges with her rendition of Alicia Keys’ No One.

She told the judging panel she had been singing since the age of four.

She often sings at home, and occasionally serenades while dining. Her dream is to become both a singer and a renowned performer, much like Beyoncé.

Swiftly captivating the crowd with an exceptionally strong vocal performance, Natalie elicited such praise from Simon as, “I find you entirely charming and lovable.” (This version maintains the original meaning while using simpler, more conversational language.)

Amanda Holden praised the show saying, “It was absolutely outstanding,” while Piers Morgan expressed his delight by saying, “Despite your small stature, you possess an incredibly powerful voice, and I found myself thoroughly enjoying it.

In simpler terms, Natalie – who has a strained relationship with her father – expressed her desire to triumph in the contest and receive the £100,000 award so she could purchase a new home for her mom and sister instead.

As a devoted follower, I can confirm that ever since I participated in that show, I’ve been subjected to both physical and verbal abuse, a fact my mother, Tabeth Mupondihunga, disclosed at the time.

She mentioned that the issue arose due to other girls wishing to join Natalie for their audition as a girl band, whereas she desired to perform solo.
