Get ready, Godzilla fans! A new adventure for the iconic monster arrives on May 13th. This time, the King of the Monsters is causing trouble in another American city, making it a particularly exciting release for audiences in the United States.
The next chapter in the comic book series Godzilla vs. America arrives on May 13, 2026, published by IDW Publishing. This ongoing series features Godzilla attacking various American cities. The newest issue, Godzilla vs. America: Texas #1, is created by Austin-based writer and artist Matt Frank and continues the anthology format.
The story follows giant monsters attacking cities across Texas, starting with Corpus Christi and moving inland to San Antonio, before culminating in a major battle in Austin. It remains to be seen if Texas, famous for its cowboys, can handle a threat as massive as Godzilla.

The first issue of Godzilla vs. America: Texas will take readers on a fast-paced adventure across Texas with four separate 10-page stories. Longtime Godzilla artist Matt Frank (known for his work on Mothra and Godzilla: Rulers of Earth) is joined by other well-known creators. The comic embraces the state’s motto, promising a story where, true to Texas, everything is larger than life.
This detail might not matter in the end, but it does make us think about how huge Godzilla will be in the new movie, especially compared to Texas. He’s already incredibly large, so it’s interesting to consider how the artist, Frank, will visually portray an even bigger Godzilla. If anyone can pull it off, it’s Frank – he’s been drawing Godzilla for 15 years and knows how to make him look impressive.
Director Frank hinted at the reason for Godzilla’s attack on Texas in an interview with KXAN-TV in Austin: “Something has attracted Godzilla’s attention, and he has to check it out… by which I mean, he’ll destroy it.” Fans will need to read the comic book to find out exactly what drew the monster to Texas.
Which Other American Cities Has Godzilla Taken On So Far?

The Godzilla vs. America anthology series has featured Godzilla attacking several US cities. So far, he’s targeted Chicago (released February 26, 2025), Los Angeles (April 30), Boston (July 30), and Kansas City (October 29). The latest installment, released on March 11, 2026, shows Godzilla attacking Portland, Oregon.
When I first heard about this series, it was supposed to be a quick, four-part story. But fans loved it so much, the creators decided to expand! They added Portland, Oregon, and then things got really interesting – Texas. And not just a city in Texas, but the whole state! Which got me thinking… in a place famous for handling anything thrown its way, can Texans actually stand up to Godzilla? It’s a fun premise, and I’m eager to see how that plays out.
Godzilla vs. America: Texas #1 from IDW Publishing is available on May 13, 2026!
