Dark Horse Comics and [company name] are teaming up again to create a brand new comic book story inspired by the popular tabletop game. Fans can find it in comic stores this July.
A new four-part comic book miniseries, Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers, is coming from Dark Horse Comics. It’s written by Christopher Hastings, known for The Unbelievable Gwenpool, with artwork by Denis Medri (Red Hood/Arsenal). Dan Jackson (Stranger Things) will handle the colors, and this series is Dark Horse’s second Dungeons & Dragons title since they obtained the license from Wizards of the Coast.
New Dungeons & Dragons Adventure Teases a New Twist on the Party

Details about Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers show that the game’s monsters will be central to the story. Expect to see creatures like werewolves, death knights, and even a gelatinous cube—which is featured on the cover of the first issue—playing major roles.
The powerful wizard Custos is dead, leaving his treasure-filled lair open for adventurers. But the monsters who served him aren’t giving up their home without a fight! According to Dark Horse Comics, these creatures have a plan: they’ll team up and try to trick someone into freeing them. That’s why a werewolf, a gelatinous cube, a mind flayer, a death knight, and even a baby beholder have formed their own adventuring group, determined to win their freedom in a dangerous world!
The first issue of Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers arrives on July 22, 2026, with cover art by Elizabeth Beals, Matias Bergara, Michael Walsh, and Lukas Ketner. A special blank cover, designed to look like a character sheet, will also be available for fans.
Dark Horse’s First D&D Comic Set to End in May
Even though the comic Total Party Killers isn’t out until July, Dungeons & Dragons fans have other comics to enjoy soon. The first issue of Dark Horse’s Dungeons & Dragons: The Fallbacks will conclude the four-part series on May 20th. The comic features art by Wilton Santos and is based on Jaleigh Johnson’s 2024 novel, The Fallbacks: Bound for Ruin.
Dark Horse Comics and Wizards of the Coast are partnering up again on a new publishing venture, starting in July 2024. The two companies have a history of working together, originally collaborating on comics related to Magic: The Gathering back in the late 1990s.
Jess Lanzillo, VP of franchise and product for Dungeons & Dragons, described the collaboration as creating something truly magical. She praised Dark Horse for its ability to vividly bring fantasy worlds to life and expressed excitement about seeing what they create together, using the rich history and imaginative settings of D&D. She believes this partnership is the beginning of something special.
Dungeons & Dragons: Total Party Killers #1 goes on sale July 22, 2026, from Dark Horse Comics.
