Rosanna Arquette blasts Harvey Weinstein after disgraced producer claimed that her, Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie’s sexual misconduct allegations against him were ‘exaggerated’

Rosanna Arquette strongly criticized Harvey Weinstein after he dismissed accusations of sexual misconduct made by her, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie as being overstated.

Uma Thurman, 66, was among the actresses who publicly accused Harvey Weinstein, 73, of misconduct. Her statements were part of a 2017 New Yorker article by Ronan Farrow that helped lead to Weinstein’s arrest and a 16-year prison sentence.

She claims he attempted to force her to touch him inappropriately when she met with him at his hotel room in the 1990s to talk about a screenplay. He recently accused her of contributing to his downfall by not being truthful about what happened.

Gwyneth Paltrow, now 53, claims that when she was 22, Harvey Weinstein asked her for a massage after they met at the Peninsula Beverly Hills hotel. She refused his request and later told her boyfriend at the time, Brad Pitt, who then confronted Weinstein about it publicly on the red carpet.

Let’s talk about the allegations surrounding Harvey Weinstein. Angelina Jolie has come forward stating she had a frightening experience with him while they worked together back in the late 90s, feeling she almost became a target of assault. He, however, strongly disputes her claims.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harvey Weinstein angrily claimed that Rosanna Arquette, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie lied about their experiences with him, suggesting they were seeking attention and ultimately ruined his career.

I admit I was dishonest and had affairs, which was wrong. However, the claim that I was physically violent is completely false. I have no regrets about not apologizing for something I didn’t do, and I’m confident I’ll be cleared of these accusations. I guarantee it.

Okay, so Rosanna just destroyed them with this massive statement to The Wrap! She’s so right to be furious. She basically said she’s never lied about what Harvey Weinstein did, and she’s absolutely convinced that saying ‘no’ to him is what ruined her career. It’s so frustrating that she even has to defend her truth, but she’s doing it and she’s amazing! I’m just so proud of her for speaking out and finally setting the record straight.

Okay, seriously, she’s always been so clear about what happened to her. She’s never, ever changed her story, not even a little bit. I’ve spent hours looking into this, and a quick Google search proves it! When he tries to say she ‘exaggerated,’ what he really means is the awful things she went through afterward… it’s just infuriating how he twists it!

As a longtime supporter, I was so relieved when Ronan Farrow’s reporting confirmed what I and others had experienced – that I’d been unfairly targeted and effectively blocked from opportunities. His investigation really laid everything out, and honestly, the impact of his work is clear for anyone to see.

Surviving Harvey Weinstein’s abuse doesn’t mean joining a group, and it’s deeply upsetting that this even needs to be stated. Being an assault or rape survivor isn’t about belonging to a ‘club’ – it’s a horrific experience no one should have to endure.

She started by directly stating that the accusations against Weinstein were true, writing: ‘Here’s what happened, based on the facts established by the juries who convicted Harvey Weinstein – and there were multiple convictions:’

These attacks and rapes did occur. Before he was convicted, multiple established news organizations investigated and confirmed these incidents. Their findings were carefully reviewed by lawyers and editors before being published, ensuring a high level of accuracy and verification.

Police in Manhattan and Los Angeles investigated Harvey Weinstein for several crimes. He faced trial, and although he had excellent legal representation thanks to his wealth, he was found guilty. Throughout the legal process, he was afforded all the rights and protections the law provides.

I’ve been following this case for years, and it’s been a complicated journey. Though his initial conviction in New York was thrown out on a technicality, the jury did originally find him guilty. He then faced another trial and was convicted of sexual assault. And importantly, his conviction in California still stands – he’s currently serving time in prison for that, and that part isn’t being appealed.

Survivors have come forward with serious allegations of rape and assault, stating these incidents occurred when they were minors. These are the established facts, and it’s crucial to prioritize them, particularly as someone like Weinstein, known for his ability to manipulate narratives, attempts to dispute them – even while incarcerated and with the help of a publicist.

Even after everything that happened, Rosanna feels sympathy for Harvey Weinstein’s family and wishes he can be moved from the terrible conditions at Rikers Island jail.

She described Rikers Island prison as a terrible place, arguing that its very existence reflects poorly on our justice system and that it should be closed. She even expressed hope that Harvey Weinstein would be moved to a more compassionate facility, emphasizing that the human rights of all prisoners – like those of everyone else – deserve protection.

‘I feel compassion for his children and ex-wives for the pain this is causing them.’

The actress stated she had forgiven Harvey Weinstein a long time ago to help her heal and move forward. She explained that her forgiveness wasn’t based on any request for it from him – acknowledging he hadn’t shown remorse or attempted to make amends – but rather on her own need to let go of anger and resentment.

I’ve never wanted my life to be about the attack or getting revenge. It’s unfortunate I even have to discuss this, but the interview took place and I feel I must address it.

Honestly, it just killed me seeing all these lies being thrown around about me, and then watching him try to confuse everyone by pretending the truth doesn’t exist! I just had to say something, I couldn’t let it stand.

Speaking from Rikers Island, Harvey Weinstein claimed that Gwyneth Paltrow’s accusations were particularly painful because they came from someone he considered a close friend and who he believed he helped launch her career.

Gwyneth Paltrow received the Best Actress Oscar in 1999 for her role in ‘Shakespeare in Love,’ a film produced by Harvey Weinstein.

He said he couldn’t understand why she reacted the way she did, feeling she’d overreacted to a minor issue. He described leaving a pleasant meeting with her and casually suggesting they get a massage.

She turned me down, and I understood that was the end of it. I respected her boundaries and never made any unwanted physical contact. She later told Brad Pitt about the situation, and he warned me to stay away. I assured him I understood, but then Gwyneth publicly discussed it on Howard Stern, making a bigger issue out of everything.

She understands nothing wrong occurred, but it still hurts that someone I helped—a former friend who owes their success to me—betrayed my trust. She clearly prioritized fitting in with others, and I can’t bring myself to forgive her for it.

The Daily Mail has contacted representatives for Pitt and Paltrow for further comment.

In 2018, Gwyneth Paltrow shared that her then-boyfriend, Brad Pitt, had confronted the film producer after she told him Harvey Weinstein had sexually harassed her.

The actress explained that Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow were at the 1995 Broadway premiere of Hamlet when Pitt spotted Harvey Weinstein and immediately intervened.

Gwyneth Paltrow shared with Howard Stern that Brad Pitt once confronted Harvey Weinstein, reportedly pinning him against a wall and threatening him, saying he would kill Weinstein if he ever made Paltrow feel unsafe again.

She also noted that Pitt is ‘the best’ for doing that for her when she did not have fame or power.

In 2021, Harvey Weinstein denied allegations made by Angelina Jolie that he had attempted to sexually assault her when she was 21, stating firmly that no assault or attempt ever occurred.

He dismissed her comments to The Guardian as attention-seeking, and offensively asked if she felt like the world was attacking her. He also added that people are simply curious about her.

His assistant stated that the claims are completely false and simply a tactic to boost sales of Angie’s book. They confirmed that no assault or attempted assault ever took place, calling the reports sensationalized and misleading publicity.

He continued joking, asking if being Angelina Jolie meant she was constantly bothered by attention from everyone, both men and women, as if the whole world was ‘assaulting’ her with interest.

Angelina Jolie first revealed a negative experience with Harvey Weinstein in a 2017 email to The New York Times.

She revealed she had a negative experience with Harvey Weinstein when she was younger, which led her to avoid working with him and to advise others against it. She stated that this kind of behavior towards women is wrong everywhere.

I recently discussed this further in an interview with The Guardian. It all started way back in 1998 when I had the chance to work with him on the movie Playing By Heart. It’s a situation that’s carried with me since then, and I wanted to share more details about what happened.

The actress explained that even if someone leaves a room thinking an attack was only attempted and didn’t fully happen, the attempt itself still constitutes an assault.

When the reporter pressed her, Jolie insisted it was a clear case of abuse, explaining, ‘It went far beyond just being uncomfortable – I really had to get away.’

Following the incident, she made sure he was never left unsupervised with girls and stopped collaborating with him on any projects.

I avoided him and cautioned others about his behavior. I specifically remember telling my first husband, Jonny—who was very understanding—to warn other men not to leave their daughters or girlfriends alone with him.

The experienced actress also revealed she declined a part in The Aviator to steer clear of a powerful figure in the industry. She explained, ‘I refused the role because he was connected to it, and I’ve avoided working with him ever since. It was difficult for me when Brad Pitt chose to work with him.’

Jolie has said she was upset that her ex-husband, Brad Pitt, collaborated with a convicted sex offender on two separate occasions. He first appeared in the film Inglourious Basterds, produced by The Weinstein Company in 2009, and later worked with the same producer on his movie Killing Them Softly.

She said they argued, and it was painful. She hinted that he’d sided with Weinstein, despite her objections.

She maintained that Pitt had collaborated with Weinstein on both films despite her objections. However, sources close to Pitt refuted this claim, stating he was simply cast in a movie that ended up being distributed by The Weinstein Company, according to TMZ.
