- Game Trials now allow players to experience the full version of select paid games for free for up to one hour.
- The “Buy Once, Play Anywhere” model enables a single purchase to work across both mobile and PC via Play Games.
Google Play is rolling out some great updates for those who like to buy games. These changes should make it much easier to find and enjoy premium titles.
Premium games can be tried and tested for an hour on Mobile and PC
At the recent GDC gaming event, Google revealed improvements that simplify how players discover, purchase, and enjoy paid games on all their devices. These updates are designed to make it easier to try out high-quality games without unexpected expenses.
Okay, so here’s the cool part: they’ve added something called Game Trials. Basically, it lets me try out full versions of some paid games for free – up to an hour, though! Instead of just watching trailers or reading what others think, I can actually play the game myself and see if I like it. It’s awesome!
We’re excited to announce two new features that will revolutionize your gaming experience! 🎉
🎮 Game Trials: Now you can try out games before you buy them.

If you enjoy the free trial, you can buy the full game and pick up right where you stopped – your progress is saved! Google is initially releasing this “Game Trial” feature for a limited number of paid mobile games, and they plan to expand it to Google Play Games on PC in the future.
A key update is the new “Buy Once, Play Anywhere” system, which is available as of today.
As a gamer, it’s always annoyed me having to buy the same game twice – once for my phone and again for my PC. But Google’s trying to fix that! Now, with Google Play Games, it looks like I’ll be able to buy a game just once and play it on both my mobile and computer. It’s a really cool idea and will save me a lot of money!
Games like Reigns, OTTTD, and Dungeon Clawler already work with this feature, and more are coming soon. It lets you start a game on your phone and pick up right where you left off on your computer, as long as you’re signed in with the same Google account.
A push for players to try more paid games on the Google Play Store
We’ve focused on enhancing the app for paying users, but now we’re turning our attention to building a stronger community. We’ve launched a new feature called Community Posts, currently in English, within the Google Play Store. It’s a dedicated space where players can connect, ask questions, share helpful tips, and discuss game strategies.
Plus, Google’s Play Games Sidekick is now available for some paid games. This helpful tool uses AI to offer tips and useful information right within the game, so you can get assistance when you’re stuck without having to pause or look elsewhere.
Honestly, I’m really digging where things are going with these premium games. I think paid games are a great way to get people hooked, and this new push will definitely get more players trying out different titles. Hopefully, a lot of them will end up becoming regular buyers!
While free games are still the most popular on mobile, these changes are a great step forward for paid games. Letting players try a game before they buy it, and allowing them to play on multiple devices with a single purchase, makes those games much more appealing and removes common obstacles for players.
