Carrie Bickmore has criticized Married At First Sight contestant Gia Fleur, calling her actions on the show unkind.
On Friday morning, a 45-year-old radio host had a difficult interview with a 35-year-old reality TV star on the ‘Carrie and Tommy’ show on the Hit Network.
She explained to the support worker that she always tells her daughter not to copy the way Gia acts when she argues with the other brides on television.
Carrie told Gia that when her daughter walked into the kitchen and saw what was happening on the screen, Carrie honestly told her, ‘Don’t ever become like that person.’
I’m talking about the conflict between you, Juliette, Bec, and everyone else who’s arguing and being unkind.
‘Watching back, do you look at that and go, “Oh, my God, what am I doing?”‘
Gia accepted Carrie’s criticism gracefully, listening respectfully before admitting she felt embarrassed about her behavior on television.
Gia explained that as a father raising a daughter, knowing she’ll become an adult, she feels embarrassed when reflecting on her past actions.
Watching back some of the things Juliette and I said, and how we said them, is pretty embarrassing. It’s actually quite difficult to watch.
‘Obviously, that is not how I act in normal life. I am not speaking like that around my daughter.
‘It’s hard to watch and I definitely wouldn’t be proud if she was doing that on a TV show.’
Carrie is a mother of three. She has a 19-year-old son named Oliver from her previous marriage to Greg Lange, who has passed away. She also has two daughters with her ex-partner, Chris Walker: Evie, age 11, and Adelaide, who is eight.
Meanwhile, Gia is mother to an eight-year-old daughter.
Following a heated argument between two brides that disrupted a dinner party, Wednesday’s episode of Married At First Sight was filled with drama.
Bec started the evening feeling angry and hurt, still upset about a disastrous couples retreat where Juliette had insultingly called her ‘stupid’.
Bec immediately made it clear she was serious when she publicly rejected Juliette’s apology during drinks before dinner.
‘No, no, no… it is fake,’ Bec said during a reaction interview after.
The angry bride went on, saying she wanted to publicly confront the other woman and ask what she had done to warrant being repeatedly called such terrible names.
Being repeatedly called cruel and offensive names without any justification is deeply hurtful – I don’t understand why anyone would say such things.
Gia was still very angry with her old friend, Bec, because of an inappropriate joke Bec had made about Rachel and Steve’s relationship during their getaway.
The bride once told Juliette to stand her ground with Bec, criticizing her for seemingly seeking pity.
Bec and Juliette continued to argue, and Bec eventually asked Juliette to apologize. However, Juliette didn’t accept responsibility and instead tried to justify her actions, so the attempt at reconciliation failed.
Juliette admitted later that she only said sorry so: ‘Bec would stay away from me.’
Just when the dinner seemed to be going well, Gia suddenly attacked Danny and Bec, right after the groom tried to make a toast hoping for a more peaceful future.
The bride, clearly upset about a long-standing disagreement with the couple, demanded an apology, sarcastically asking if it had been misplaced in the mail.
Gia’s emotional confession sparked further conflict. She told Chris and Juliette that she’d seen direct messages from Bec detailing how Bec had previously criticized Alissa, Rachel, and Stella.
Gia said she could easily destroy everything for Bec, and hinted she had screenshots to prove something.
