Disney studio veteran Paul Roeder gets big role in Josh D’Amaro’s cabinet

Josh D’Amaro, who will soon be the CEO of Walt Disney Co., has appointed Paul Roeder, a long-time studio leader, as the company’s head of communications.

After 25 years with Disney, Roeder will begin his new role on March 19th, the day following the company’s annual shareholder meeting where he will succeed Bob Iger.

Mahlen Roeder is taking over as Disney’s head of communications, succeeding Kristina Schake. Schake had held the position since Bob Iger returned as CEO in late 2022 and announced her departure in February, with her last day being March 18th.

Roeder will report directly to D’Amaro. Previously, he was the executive vice president of communications for Disney Entertainment’s studios, streaming services, and international operations. Now, he will oversee all of Disney’s media relations, communications with executives and employees, and initiatives related to employee engagement and social responsibility.

According to D’Amaro, Roeder is a well-regarded leader known for good judgment and honesty. He’s developed strong connections throughout the company and within the broader entertainment industry.

According to D’Amaro, this individual is truly dedicated to Disney and its values. He’s confident that this person will excel at leading the company’s communications teams across the globe.

Roeder’s appointment is the latest in a roster of executives D’Amaro has appointed to new roles.

This week, Thomas Mazloum, the president of Disneyland Resort, was promoted to lead all of Disney’s parks, taking over the role previously held by D’Amaro. This is an important position for Disney’s business.

Jill Estorino is the new leader of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. Before this role, she was in charge of Disney’s theme parks and resorts in Europe and Asia as president and managing director of Disney Parks International.
