James Gunn, one of the heads of DC Studios, shared a look at the set of the Daily Planet on his Instagram. He explained he was there checking out the location for filming and hinted that it would soon resemble the iconic newsroom fans know and love.

Recent updates indicate that preparations for the “Man of Tomorrow” movie are well underway, and filming is expected to begin soon. Sources familiar with the production suggest a start date of April 17th, conveniently just before Superman Day on April 18th.

The first movie used Terminal Station in Macon, Georgia, as the busy Daily Planet newsroom where Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen work. Director James Gunn has now confirmed he’s planning to recreate that same look and feel for the upcoming film.

James Gunn recently shared that he was in Atlanta and had friends visiting while preparing for a new project. Among those visiting was Michael Rooker, who played Yondu in Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy movies. These posts suggest that filming is starting soon.

A tech scout is when the director and the main filming team visit locations to plan how the scenes will be shot. They figure out where to put cameras, how to set up the lights, and how actors will move through the space. It’s an important part of pre-production, done before filming actually begins.

The next Superman movie, a sequel to the 2025 film, is scheduled for release on July 9, 2027. DC Studios calls this movie the beginning of a larger story focusing on Superman’s family. The plot will reportedly involve a major threat that forces Superman to team up with his enemy, Lex Luthor.
