Nova radio host Tim Blackwell slapped with restraining order to protect ex-wife… just hours before partying with Kate Ritchie and Abbie Chatfield at Keli Holiday concert

Police have issued a domestic violence order to protect Tim Blackwell’s ex-wife, Monique. This order prevents Tim Blackwell from contacting or approaching her.

On Wednesday morning, a Newtown Local Court magistrate issued a temporary Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO) after hearing the case.

Court records obtained by the Daily Mail show that a restraining order prohibits 44-year-old Blackwell from physically harming, harassing, threatening, or intimidating Monique.

He is also prohibited from stalking his ex-wife, or intentionally damaging property or harming any animal owned by or in the care of Monique Bavonia Blackwell.

The Mail isn’t claiming Blackwell did anything wrong, just that these conditions are typical for an Apprehended Violence Order.

The matter will next be before the court on April 15.

Paul McGirr, Blackwell’s attorney from McGirr & Associates, stated on Thursday that they plan to strongly contest any legal claims against him.

Mr. McGirr stated he wouldn’t discuss the details of the case, but confirmed they intend to strongly defend themselves. He also suggested the Apprehended Violence Order (AVO) seems to be used to harm, rather than protect.

No violence has been claimed against him, and the case against him appears to be quite flimsy.

I advised Mr. Blackwell to continue focusing on his work, and I’ll take care of everything else.

Regarding the potential for violence, I believe this case is not very strong, and it seems like there are underlying family issues involved.

Okay, so after everything that happened – the restraining order and all – I couldn’t believe my eyes! There was Nova’s very own Blackwell, who just got the HUGE promotion to breakfast radio in Sydney, out at a Keli Holiday concert, looking like he didn’t have a care in the world! And who was he with? Seriously, Kate Ritchie and Abbie Chatfield! It just… it felt so wrong, seeing him out having fun like that after everything. I’ve been following his career for ages, and honestly, it was a shock to see him just… partying. I’ve screenshotted everything, of course.

Blackwell seemed relaxed and carefree as he and his girlfriend, Lizzie Baxter – who used to work behind the scenes on the Fitzy and Wippa radio show – arrived at Selina’s in Coogee, Sydney, for a Nova Red Room concert.

Baxter and Blackwell appeared together on the red carpet at the 2024 ARIA Awards, roughly a year after Monique revealed they had separated.

The celebrity appeared calm on Wednesday, despite a court order issued just hours earlier that required them to stay away from their former spouse.

Blackwell arrived wearing all black, including sunglasses, with his arm around Baxter, who was dressed in a white shirt and black pants.

She casually draped a leather jacket over her shoulder and put on sunglasses as she walked with him.

The couple mingled with other radio personalities, like Nova co-host Ritchie and podcaster Chatfield, while enjoying a performance by Keli Holiday.

Daily Mail has reached out to Monique for comment.

Monique, age 45, revealed she and Blackwell separated in December 2023. They share three children: Bo, 12, Alfie, 9, and Artie, 6.

The entrepreneur and yoga instructor broke the news via Instagram.

She marked the end of their relationship with a collection of cherished photos, writing, ‘Some good things really do last, but this isn’t one of them.’

Thank you for all the kind messages you’ve sent following Tim and my breakup. We appreciate your love, support, and sympathy.

Tim and I will always love and support our children. Our strong friendship is a constant source of strength for our family as we strive to raise them to be close and supportive of each other.

After his wife announced their separation, Blackwell didn’t post anything on Instagram for more than a week. He waited until September 2024 to publicly talk about the split.

Tim Blackwell discussed his split and how he’s co-parenting on his podcast, ‘Introducing with Tim Blackwell,’ while talking with singer Missy Higgins.

The radio host shared that he felt like he had failed as a father when he and Monique divorced, but he emphasized that they still had a relationship and their story wasn’t finished.

Even though we’re no longer a couple, we’re still connected as parents to our children, and that requires effort. It’s like we’re putting more work into maintaining a different kind of connection now,” he explained.

Blackwell and Monique first met in 2002 after he moved to Perth to launch Nova 93.7’s drive show.

Okay, so get this – it was seriously the most ridiculously amazing day ever! Like, HUGE for my career, but even bigger for, well, everything with romance. I was telling Stellar magazine about it back in 2018, and honestly, it felt like something out of a cheesy movie – a total radio nerd’s dream come true!

I was incredibly nervous – absolutely terrified, actually – with all the company executives and the press present. But despite the fear, I also felt a rush of excitement.

After everything was finished, we had a big launch party, and Monique was working with the promotions team then, so she was involved.

I was so nervous, but when she approached, I finally worked up the nerve to tell her I’d just moved to Perth and was hoping she’d be interested in grabbing coffee sometime. It felt good to finally say it!
